Bac Giang consumes more than 14,000 tonnes of early ripening lychees
BAC GIANG - Currently, localities in Bac Giang province have focused on harvesting early maturing lychees. As of May 30, the whole province harvested more than 14,000 tonnes of fresh lychees, including over 6,600 tonnes from Tan Yen district, 5,500 tonnes from Luc Ngan district and 850 tonnes from Luc Nam district among others.
At weighing points in Phuc Hoa commune (Tan Yen), Phuong Son, Hong Giang communes and Chu town (Luc Ngan), the fresh lychees are sold at 35 – 40,000 VND (1.4 – 1.7 USD) per kg on average (5 -10,000 VND per kg higher than last year price). The large, beautiful fruit is priced at 45-50,000 VND per kg.

This year, Bac Giang province focuses on consuming lychees in both domestic and export markets. So far, nearly 2,520 tonnes of lychee have been exported to China (2,500 tonnes), EU countries (2.5 tonnes) Australia (6.5 tonnes) while over 11,500 tonnes have been domestically consumed through wholesale markets, wholesale and retail systems.
Previously, on May 23 and May 27, the People's Committees of Luc Ngan and Tan Yen districts organized a conference to promote lychee consumption, helping attracted many domestic and foreign businesses, distributors, and travel agencies to connect, build supply chains, consume the fruits and enhance the value of lychee products.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the main lychee crop is expected to start on June 10 onwards. To continue supporting farmers in consumption, provincial authorities and localities continue to enhance propaganda, promotion and consumption of lychee associated with tourism development.
Luc Ngan and Tan Yen districts are supported to organize tours to experience early lychee production areas; create conditions for tiktokers to go into the area to propagate and promote products.
