Bac Giang cooperates with Japanese firms in transferring farming technology
At the meeting, Pich informed that Bac Giang is adjacent to the Capital Region and lies on the Lang Son - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh economic corridor. With an area of nearly 390,000 hectares, with agricultural land accounting for 75 percent, Bac Giang has many advantages in agricultural development.

In recent years, the province has focused on developing three sectors including industry - construction, urban - services and agricultural production, obtaining many positive results. It has always topped the country in terms of economic growth.
Hiroshi Tada, Director of Tada Seika Co., Ltd. said that his company specializes in agriculture in Ibaraki prefecture, near Tokyo. The firm realizes that it can support technology transfer for Bac Giang, and wishes to cooperate in the lettuce production and preservation technology during transportation.

Hayashida Takayuki, a senior consultant of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), expressed his pleasure to be the bridge between Tada Seika Co., Ltd. and Bac Giang province in implementing the project "Growing lettuce varieties and transferring preservation technology during transportation" in Bac Giang. The project focuses on growing new lettuce varieties; providing cold storage technology vehicles and piloting safe plastic bags to preserve products.
Regarding a number of related contents, Le Ba Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the unit has selected a location for project implementation and arranged human resources to coordinate with the Japanese side in carry out the project; while supporting the businesses to promote the project’s products to customers through seminars...

In order to tap the province's advantages, Thanh suggested that the Japanese enterprises support the province in modern technology in processing and preserving lychee as well as a number of other products. In this regard, Tada Seika pledged to support the province in technology transfer in order to keep the colour and quality of lychees, contributing to bringing Bac Giang lychee farther.
At the end of the working session, the representatives of Tada Seika Co., Ltd. and the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development signed a memorandum of understanding on financial support for the implementation of the project "Growing lettuce varieties and transferring preservation technology during transportation".

Accordingly, the Japanese enterprises will expand their business activities in Bac Giang and provide qualified technology products for growing new lettuce varieties and building a supply chain for sustainable development of the province's agricultural sector. The two sides agreed to maintain a long-term connection in exporting agricultural products and training technical staff to operate and maintain technological equipment.
