The local economy reached a quick and comprehensive development in various fields and sectors. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) first ever hit 16 percent, ranking the third position, nearly doubling the national figure and leading among 14 provinces in the northern midlands and mountainous areas as well as 10 provinces of Hanoi region.

The economic scale was expanded. The GRDP in 2018 was 1.7 fold increase comparing to the figure in 2015. The ratio of the industry – construction accounted for 52.7 percent while the agro-forestry-fishery rate was down to 19.3 percent in the economic structure.

Defined as the key growth force, the industry maintained a high development of 27.8 percent with the (current) production value of over 159 trillion VND (6.8 million USD). Additionally, several dramatic results were gained in improving the investment and business environment, making Bac Giang an attractive investment destination with a new wage of capital invested by domestic and foreign enterprises.

Particularly, there were nearly 200 new projects approved for investment; 1,238 newly established firms; helping the province rank 18 out of 63 provinces and cities while the foreign investment attraction secured the 9th position in the number of new projects and 12th position nationwide in terms of registered and added capital.

The agriculture sector also achieved several bright spots comparing to the national figure with the highest growth rate ever of 6.5 percent. The subsectors of cultivation, husbandry, forestry and fishery grasped comprehensive development with several large scale concentrated production facilities which apply the advanced technologies to create high-value farm produce on the market. The production value increased to 103.5 million VND (over 4,400 USD) per hectare.

The province was home to 71 hi-tech agricultural models and 163 exemplary fields, up 50 models and 49 fields comparing to 2017 figures. The local authority paid due attention to the national target programme on building new-style rural by creative methods following the practical and effective motto. The great effort resulted in 21 communes and Viet Yen district recognized as new-style rural areas, making the total number of qualified communes up to 89 that accounted for 43.6 percent and exceeded the set target of 35 – 40 percent by 2020.

Besides, the services and trade were widely developed. The tourism sector was flourish with key impression brought by the success of Promotion conference for tourism investment at which 16 projects were bestowed with the decision of investment policy, certificate of investment registration, memorandum of investment understanding with a total committed capital of nearly 1.6 billion USD.

The socio-economic infrastructure structure was concentrated, focusing on developing the transport infrastructure, expanding the industrial and urban spaces by strict instruction and implementation.

The socio-economic fields gained positive changes; concretely, the school facilities and teachers were reinforced; the quality of comprehensive and key educations targeted at the top list across the nation.

The medical systems from the province to grassroots were continuously upgraded with improved preventive medicine, health examination and treatment and high rate of health insurance coverage hitting 98.5 percent. The movements of culture and sports were developed in various aspects. Several projects of culture and sports were preserved and newly built.

At the National Sports Festival 2018, Bac Giang delegation made up 3 new records and bagged 9 golds, 3 silvers and 9 bronze, ranking 18th position nationwide and leading the mountainous provinces.

The policies on social welfare and poverty reduction were well executed to improve the living quality for the resident. The average Gross Regional Domestic Product hit 2,275 USD (nearly reach the national average rate).

Defined as a crucial and regular task, the local authority always pays due attention to reinforcing the national defence, ensuring the political security and social order and safety while firmly grasping the situation to timely handle any arising issue so as to maintain the stability to facilitate the development. These above comprehensive results affirmed the rightness of provincial leaders’ instruction as well as proved for the great efforts made by the whole political systems, business community and people of all stratas, helping create a joyful atmosphere and reinforce the strong belief in the Party so as to build up the great national unity.

In 2019, the provincial Party Committee and People’s Council issued the Resolution with high political consensus, requesting to take the utmost opportunities to accelerate and basically fulfil the targets, criteria set in the 18th Congress’s Resolution of the provincial Party Committee as well as the 5 year plan of socio-economic development from 2016 – 2020, mostly focusing on these key contents:

The strategic development plan will be continuously built for the economic sectors and fields while keeping the growth progress for 3 recent years to make a breakthrough in the local economy with GRDP increase by 16 percent.

The industry should be prioritized in development with active preparation in infrastructure condition, especially in the land source for expansion of industrial development space with a focal point of building the industrial clusters and parks

The investment and business environment would be further improved to increase its attraction and belief in order to create the most favorable condition to the startup businesses or the firms seeking the investment opportunities. Further attention is urged to paid to the big groups and enterprises with high socio-economic value while ensuring the operation of the projects which were approved or under operation locally.

It is necessary to build the strategic development plan for the agricultural sector, clearly specifying the concentrated and specialized cultivation areas so as to gather the land; reorganize the production to link it with processing and consumption by the close involvement and connection from the economic organizations. The hi-tech farming should be boosted up while diversifying all kinds of service, infrastructure system of trading and tourism.

All measurements of active innovation are warmly encouraged to liberate all potentials, wake up various investment sources to develop the socio-economic infrastructure.

Economic development should be attached to good execution of cultural and social promotion as well as considerable improvement of living aspect. An appropriate source will be spent on the fields of medical, education, culture and sports while boosting the application of advanced science and information technology in the production and life, especially focusing on ensuring the social welfare following the spirit of leaving no one behind; definitely handling the policy to support the house for the national contributors, eliminate the temporary and damaged houses for the poor; accelerating the house development and facilities for workers in the industrial parks.

Vietnamese Australian seeks for investment opportunities in Bac Giang

(BGO)- Recently, at the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA), leaders of Bac Giang DOFA and Business Association had a meeting with some Vietnamese Australians seeking for investment opportunities and business partnership in the northern province of Bac Giang. The meeting was attended by Nguyen Hoang Trung, DOFA’s Director and Nguyen Duc Kha, Permanent Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Business Association.

(BGO) - On 15 January, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Linh received Chulsung Lee, Vice President of STS Development Joint Stock company, Republic of Korea (RoK) and other company members to seek opportunities for investment in Bac Giang. The working session was attended by leaders of the provincial departments of Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, the Industrial Zone Authorities and the Office of the provincial People’s Committee. 

 

Bac Giang continues improving investment climate

(BGO) - In 2018, Bac Giang province granted investment registration certificates for 107 domestic investment projects with registered capital of 1,920 billion VND (82.7 million USD) and 63 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects valued at 166 million USD. Besides, the local authority has given a nod to increasing the capital for 50 investment projects up to 336 million USD.

 

Bac Giang pays heed to economic investment and development in special difficult areas

(BGO) – Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong on November 15 visited 4 most difficult hamlets in the province in 2016 – 2018 period, including Dong Mam and Co Vai hamlets in Son Hai commune as well as Suoi Chac and Ri hamlets in Phong Van commune (Luc Ngan district). He was accompanied by leaders of the provincial Ethnic Board, Bac Giang branch of Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam and People’s Committee in Luc Ngan district.
