Hanh Thai Chu rice noodle product has been rated 3 stars.

With an expectation to expand production and supply the product to supermarkets, convenience stores and restaurants, Hanh collaborated with some households in the village to establish Hanh Thai Noodle Production and Consumption Cooperative in 2019. The Cooperative supplies about 20 tonnes of rice noodle per day to the market, 40 percent of which comes from Hanh’s family.

Thanks to qualified rice without borax, preservatives nor colourants, Hanh Thai noodle has gained customers trust with 80 percent of the products are guaranteed consumption. Hanh Thai Chu rice noodle participated in OCOP evaluation and rating and it was certified 3 stars.

“The star-rating affirmed quality of Chu rice noodle. After the product is rated, one enterprise in Hanoi city requested to sign contract to bring the Cooperative’s product into modern supermarkets and retail systems”, Hanh said happily.

To date, there are 29 OCOP products of the craft villages in the entire province, including nine 4-star products and other 3-star ones which mainly fall into the groups of food and drink such as vermicelli, noodle and wine. After being recognized OCOP products, the products have been smoothly consumed, helping to improve income of the workers.

Particularly in Chau Son rice noodle craft village (Tan Yen district), Chau Son rice noodle product of Que Hang Rice Noodle Production and Consumption Cooperative has been brought to the shelves of A-one Mall in Hanoi and some super markets in Ho Chi Minh city since the high-class noodle and vermicelli were rated stars in 2019. The market has been expanded where the productivity has been increased by 30 percent year on year and average income of the workers ranges from 7 to 9 million VND (298 to 383 USD) per month.

According to the statistics, the province has total 27 craft villages by the end of 2022 working in 4 groups of industries including processing and preserving agricultural, forestry and fishery products, furniture production, bamboo rattan, garment and textile, bonsai production and trading, services for production and rural living.

The craft products have been diversified with various types, beautiful designs and good quality. Of which, a number of goods have competitive advantages in both domestic and overseas markets such as rice noodle of Thu Duong craft village in Luc Ngan district), Van village wine of Yen Vien craft village, rice paper of Tho Ha craft village (in Van Ha commune, Viet Yen district), Da Mai vermicelli and cakes (in Bac Giang city) and rice noodle of Chau Son craft village (in Tan Yen district).

In order to exploit potentials and leverage traditional crafts, the provincial People’s Committee sets the target in the implementation plan of the OCOP programme in 2021-2025 period to have at least 310 OCOP products rated 3 stars or more in the province, in which at least 50 percent of the craft villages and traditional craft villages have certified products by 2025.

In implementing the Programme, the districts and city have proactively engaged and paid attention to supporting investment, providing training to improve skills of young workers, building technical infrastructure and environmental treatment in craft villages, which is defined as a foundation for sustainable development of craft villages, with a vision to build rural tourism OCOP products.
