Bac Giang expects to yield 25,000 tonnes of longan

(BGO) – This year, Bac Giang province expects to harvest about 25,000 tonnes of longan in 3,000 hectares, up 2,000 tonnes over last year, reported to Division of Plant Production and Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development).

Most of the longans are grown in Luc Ngan, Yen The, Tan Yen and Luc Nam districts.

Thanks to favorable weather condition and good intensive cultivation technique, the crop gives high productivity. This year, early ripening longan accounts for 20 percent of total area, main season longan for 56 percent and late ripening fruit for remaining.

As schedule, the longan harvest season will start in late July. At localities with large longan growing area, the local competent agencies continue promoting and supporting farmers to sell the fruits.

(BGO) – On authorization of Japanese competent organization, the Department of Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) has recognized five more longan cultivation areas in Bac Giang province that are qualified to be granted with growing area codes (GAC) to export to Japan with total area of over 53.2 hectares.

(BGO) – Bac Giang province has grown about 3,400 hectares of longan, 3,000 hectares of which can be harvested mostly in the districts of Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, Yen the, Tan Yen and Lang Giang, reported the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
Sugar apple and longan enjoy ease consumption
(BGO) – It is the peak harvest season of sugar apple and longan in the northern province of Bac Giang. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province has 3,400 hectares of longan (including over 600 hectares of late ripening longan) mostly in the districts of Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The and Lang Giang with total productivity of 23,300 tonnes.

(BGO) – Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) now has 825 hectares of longans with several verieties mostly in the communes of Giap Son, Tru Huu, Kien Thanh, Thanh Hai and Quy Son.

(BGO) – Tapping soil and climate advantages, Yen The district (Bac Giang province) has paid attention to expanding the late ripening longan area and helping enhance farmers’income.
