The Red Spring Festival this year is launched from January 1 to March 15 to call for donation of about 4,000 blood units to supplement to spare blood bank, restrict blood shortage and ensure safe blood source for the emergency cases and patient treatment during Lunar New Year holiday.

Speaking at the event, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC), Head of provincial VBD Steering Committee Mai Son said the VBD campaign in the country in general and Bac Giang in particular has gained better results for years. Bac Giang always exceeds the annual target assigned by the Center.

Amid the Covid-19 complicated development in 2021, the province held 21 blood donation festivals to receive 16,700 blood units, exceeding 134 percent of the plan assigned by the National VBD Committee, helping reduce the blood shortage and enhance the efficiency of first aid and treatment.

Pressing on the great meaning of the VBD movement, PPC Vice Chairman hoped the people of all strata in the province will continue their active participation to prolong the solidarity and humanitarian tradition of the nation.

He urged the central and provincial press agencies to actively communicate the purpose, meaning and content of the calling for VBD on this occasion while honoring the outstanding organizations and individuals in the campaign to encourage them and offer timely reward.
