Blood sharing amid pandemic
Tran Hai Quang was born in 2016 in Dan village, Huu San commune with hemolytic anemia so he must get monthly blood transfusion. However, the village is now under medical quarantine, the family can not take him to the hospital for treatment.

Acknowledging the case from the communal Youth Union’ calling for blood donation, lieutenant Nong Duc Viet, Public Security staff at Son Dong district who is on duty at the disease control station in Dan village voluntarily donated 250 ml of blood to timely transfuse to Quang on May 31.
Viet shared: “Knowing the case, I only think that I share the same blood type with the boy who is at the same age as my child so I give him my blood”.
On June 1, sergeant Vi Thi Thao, official at Police Team in charge of Administrative Management over social order came to the district Medical Center to have health screening checkup and donate 250 ml of blood which was later used to transfuse to Hoang Thu Huyen (born in 2017) in Thac village, An Lac commune with inborn hemolytic anemia.
Amid the complex disease circumstance, many families in Son Dong district got hard impacts, including family of Nong Van Tuyen (born in 1980) in Che village, Vinh An commune.
His daughter Nong Thi Phuong (born in 2006) has suffered from severe blood shortage since 9 months old. Since then, his family must take her to Hanoi based National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion for monthly dialysis.
The pandemic forced Phuong to stay at home, making her body weaker and weaker. The family took her to the district General Hospital and called for aid from people with A blood type on social network. After the transfusion, her health gets more stable.
Knowing about the disadvantaged case, Colonel Ngo Dinh Dung, Vice Head of the Public Security in Son Dong district visited and handed over 5 million VND to the family.
The leader of district Public Security also assigned the Youth Union of the district Public Security force to call for the officials and soldiers to register to donate blood so as to help Phuong have a blood reserve source for long term treatment.
