Bac Giang lychee sold out in Hanoi
Diverse selling channels
Since early season, Bac Giang lychees have been consumed smoothly in Hanoi market. At supermarkets, convenient stores and traditional markets, the fruits are displayed at eye-catching position.

Noticeably, lychees have been sold at popular food supermarket chains of Soi Bien, Bac tom, Clever Food… with average price of 90,000 VND per kg (3.87 USD) since early harvest time, doubling the price at tradition market.
Representative of Bac Tom supermarket said this kind of lychee was carefully selected from garden which grew the fruit in line with VietGAP standard with thorough preservation to ensure high quality and serve choosy customers.
According to the Chief Executive Official of Hanoi Trading Corporation Nguyen Thai Dung, 76 supermarkets, convenient stores under BRG Mart and Haprofood/BRG Mart trademark joined hands together with Bac Giang farmers to consume lychee. Similarly, Aeon, Mega Market, Co.op Mart …also worked with some companies to ink memorandum of understanding for consuming lychees at the growing area codes.
Besides, many enterprises expanded markets by selling on e-commercial platforms, introducing the special fruits on Alibaba.com to meet the customers ‘orders as well as promoting the consumption via social network of Zalo, Facebook…
All distribution channels became more professional by connecting, promoting and serving customers toward an ease consumption. Everyday, the supermarkets and stores under Hanoi Trading Corporation sell tonnes of Bac Giang lychees.
The fruits are sold out day by day
The selling price of lychee was fluctuated depending on selling points and period. In early stage with small quantity, the price was high. But in peak harvest season, it was much reduced.
Hanoi Industry and Trade accelerates the linkage of supply – demand with Big C, Co.op Mart, Lotte Mart, Vin Mart supermarket chains and cooperates with Bac Giang province to launch Promotion Week to introduce lychee and local signature product, hence stimulating the domestic consumption. Pham Thi Huyen (born in Thanh Hoa province) is a small fruit trader on Nguyen Xien Street shared: “It was the first year I have sold Bac Giang lychees. My customers highly evaluate the fruit for its high quality. Every day I sell 500 – 700kg of lychee”.
Before the lychee season, Huyen and her husband came to Luc Ngan district to place order to owners of local gardens. When the harvest time came, her husband drove truck to transport the fruits home every day.
Not far from Huyen’s store, a truck displayed the sign “lychee 17,000 VND per kg sold out soon”. Its owner joyfully said she almost sold all the lychees in late morning. Many people came to buy but there was no more fruits.
Currently, most of customers want to buy more lychee because it is the end of season. Hong Cam in Thanh Xuan ward said she often buys lychee for family and gift.
“I and my colleagues at office buy lychee to eat at lunchtime. This year, Bac Giang lychees are more juicy and sweeter with less stem borer. The price is good, around 20,000 VND per kg. So pretty, it is end of this year season,” Cam said.
