Bac Giang lychees are well consumed

(BGO) – This year, big distribution groups, supermarkets, commercial centers like Aoen, Central Retail, MM Mega MarKet, Lotte, Big C, Saigon.coop, Vinmart and Vinmart+, Fivimart and Citimart, Vincom...among others planned to consume about 20,000 tonnes of Bac Giang lychees.

Since May 20, Co.opmart Supermarket Chain in the northern area has sold about 60 tonnes of early ripening lychee in Bac Giang province with average selling price of 32,000 – over 40,000 VND (1.39 – 1.74 USD) per kg which are widely preferred by customers for high quality and looking. Particularly, Co.opmart Bac Giang sold 2 tonnes of early ripening lychee as of May 30. This supermarket chain plans to sell about 400 – 500 tonnes of lychee.

Central Retail Group with 37 mega malls and supermarkets across the nation officially sold Bac Giang lychee on May 31, one week earlier than the schedule. The Group also inked contracts to consume 1,000 to 2,000 tonnes of lychee for the province.

Besides, retail systems of Vinmart and Vinmart+ which widely cover almost all of provincies and cities across the nation committed to sell about 2,000 tonnes of Bac Giang lychee, nearly doubling the estimated quantity.

To support the farmers in Yen The district in lychee consumption, the district People’s Committee instructed the competent agencies to coordinate with Sang Trong Farm Produce Processing Company Limited (Sang Trong Co.,Ltd)in Dong Tam commune (Yen The district) and Nafoods Group Joint Stock Company (Nghe An province) to buy local lychees.

The companies promised to accompanying the farmers till the end of the season. For recent week, they have bought about 150 tonnes of lychee with average price of 7 – 8,000 VND per kg.

Director of Sang Trong Co.,Ltd Nguyen Tien Duong said his company acts as the contact point to purchase lychee in the district. All the quantity will be transported to Nafoods Group Joint Stock Company for premilinary processing and processing by modern technology.

Various products of canned lychee juice, frozen lychee flesh...will be exported to the markets of US, Japan, Australia, German...
