Bac Giang prepares sufficient man power and medical supplies for SEA Games 31
Preparing several programmes
As schedule, badminton event at SEA Games 31 will take place from May 16 - 22, 2022 at Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium in the Sourth urban area of Bac Giang city with 130 participants from eight countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Lao, Cambodia, Singapore and Vietnam who will stay at Muong Thanh hotel (Bac Giang city).

Implementing direction from the Ministry of Health and provincial People’s Committee about medical task serving SEA Games 31, since middle of March 2022, the Department of Health made plan and ordered unites to implement.
Vice Director of the provincial Department of Health Nguyen Thi Thu Huong said the Department directed relevant agencies to implement the plan which focus on communicating about food hygiene and safety (FHS), Covid-19 prevention and control as well as establishing standing groups to detect any arising circumstance for timely response.
Accordingly, the provincial General Hospital founds serving team with three doctors, 10 nurses, two ambulances on duty around the clock at the competition venue and Muong Thanh hotel. All selected medical staff are qualified and experienced.
The provincial General Hospital arranges 15 beds with sufficient devices at several departments, readies medicine and medical supplies in case of disease detection, food poisoning or accident.
The local organization board has paid due attention to Covid-19 prevention and control. All athletes, coaches and referees will have the samples taken for SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigent test within 24 hours prior to the competition while the serving team with close contact to these above mentioned cases will be tested on every three day. All guests and representatives must be tested within 24 hours before participating the event. The medical supplies and materials are sufficiently prepared.
Apart from serving at the provincial Gymnasium, the local organization board specially takes care of the accommodation of the delegation. The provincial Center of Disease Control has cooperated with Muong Thanh hotel to clean up the environment before the delegates and athletes arrive at and leave from the hotel.
Handsanitizer, body temperature measuring devices, face masks are prepared together with two quarantine rooms for any case with suspected symptoms. There is special room for doctor and nurses on duty at 24 hours for Covid-19 prevention and control.
Strict control
During the sport event, the organization board strictly controls the FHS task for each meal of representatives, members of organization board and athletes. The provincial FHS Division has collaborated with the municipal Health Division and Center to inspect and supervise the implementation of FHS regulation during processing, storing and serving meals for event participants. The provincial Guest House is selected as meal supplier.
The numbers of guests to Bac Giang city to cheer Vietnam Badminton Team, including Bac Giang born athletes are expected to sharply increase during the event, so the medical sector reinforces to inspect the restaurants and food vendors in the city.
The city has more than 100 licensed hotels, restaurants, food and drink suppliers. Most of the facilities well follow the FHS regulation, use qualified devices and tools for processing and storing the food together with clean water and safe raw material.
As schedule, in April and May, the medical inspection team will inspect about 20 facilities at every key wards; enhance sudden inspection to subjectively assess their implementation and impose serious punishment to any violation.
Bac Giang is one of 12 provinces and cities selected to host sports at SEA Games 31. Thus, apart from communicating, serving, inspecting and supervising task conducted by the health sector, each business and citizen need to highly raise the awareness to follow regulation on disease prevention and control as well as FHS to contribute to the success of the biggest regional sport event.
