Bac Giang Province and Osaka Metropolitan University of Medicine (Japan) strengthen medical cooperation

BAC GIANG - On the trip to Bac Giang to participate in scientific research, cooperation and transfer of some techniques, on the afternoon of October 27, Professor Norifumi Kawada, Dean of Osaka Metropolitan University of Medicine (Japan) along with members of the working group paid a courtesy visit to the provincial leaders. The delegates were received by Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) Mai Son.

PPC Vice Chairman Mai Son briefed the guest on local socio economic situation in recent years, noting that Bac Giang's economic growth has always been among the top in the country.

Regarding investment attraction, currently the province has 21 valid investment projects of Japanese enterprises with a total registered capital of about 309.6 million USD. Japan ranks fourth in number of projects and sixth in total registered capital among countries and territories investing in Bac Giang.

In labor cooperation, there are currently 38 Japanese working in Bac Giang while more than 1,500 Bac Giang labourers are working in Japan.

Since 2017, the province has established an Oncology Hospital with a scale of 300 beds, equipped with several modern equipment to implement many new techniques of cancer treatment.

To improve the quality of examination and treatment, the provincial leader hoped Osaka Metropolitan University of Medicine will organize seminars and conferences to update new knowledge, cooperate to support professional training for the province's medical staff in appropriate forms, especially new methods and techniques for diagnosing and treating cancer.

Discussing at the event, Professor Norifumi Kawada informed that Osaka Metropolitan University of Medicine currently has 16,000 students and ranks first in the number of students in Japan. The university has a hospital with 965 beds, which is considered a high-end treatment hospital with advanced technology. The professor wished to further maintain a good relationship with Bac Giang province and welcome young doctors from the province to study and work.

Professor Norifumi Kawada emphasized that Osaka Metropolitan University of Medicine is an intensive unit specializing in early diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer. The school is always ready to support, transfer techniques as well as train and foster medical team and doctors at hospitals in Bac Giang.

After the exchange, PPC Vice Chairman Mai Son agreed to sign a cooperation agreement between Bac Giang province and Osaka Metropolitan University of Medicine in scientific research, training and transfer of some advances in the medical field.

On this occasion, the provincial leader presented typical products of the province to Professor Norifumi Kawad and members of the working delegation.
