Giving initiatives to improve medical service quality

(BGO)- In response to the emulation movement of creative labour, a number of scientific reseach projects have been effectively implemented and applied by health officials and practitioners in the hospitals in northern province of Bac Giang contributing to improving healthcare quality.

The trade union of health sector has 34 grassroots-level trade unions with 6,600 unionists. In response to the emulation movement launched by the trade union of the sector, the officials and trade unionists actively study and implement hundreds of initiatives and new treatment solutions each year contributing to improving medical examination and treatment.

The doctors of Bac Giang Obstetrics - Pediatrics Hospital apply new techniques in atrial septal defect repair surgery.

“The typical task of health sector is caring people’s health. Continous changes of the diseases in line with development of the society require each medical offcial and practitioner to ceaselessly study and research to fulfill the duties”, said Vu Thi Sau, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of the health sector. In order to encourage trade unionists, the trade union of the health sector launches annual emulation movement with specific topics conforming to the targets and key tasks of the sector.

In each grassroots-level trade union, the officials and trade unionists select tasks based on the function of the hospitals, departments and specialized divisions to register. Each trade unionist works out detailed plan and targets and make monthly report on implementation progress. The initiatives concentrate on finding solutions for applying science and intensive techniques in medical check and treatment.

As being encouraged, the officials and staff in health sector have proactively done scientific researches to care for patients’ health. Of which, many intensive techniques have been applied such as in vitro ferlilisation (IVF), surgical techniques and rehabilitation in Bac Giang Obstetrics - Pediatrics Hospital, emergency continuous dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, cerebrovascular interventions and others in the provincial General Hospital. Several district-level medical centers succeeded in implementing minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and artificial kidney.

With 15 years working at the Biochemistry Department (under the provincial General Hospital), doctor Nguyen Thi Van Anh (born in 1982), head of the Department has spent much time reseaching and seeking solutions to improve her profession. In order to reduce time and enhance the efficiency, doctor Van Anh often discusses with her colleagues to find solutions to improve the biochemical testing procedures. Her latest initiative is “examinating beta2-B2M concentrations in intermittent haemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure”.

Currently, the provincial General Hospital is providing intermittent haemodialysis for nearly 400 patients with chronic kidney failure.

The doctors at Bac Giang Obstetrics - Pediatrics Hospital has successfully implemented IVF techniques. According to doctor Nguyen Minh Cuong, the Hospital Director, in 2023 the hospital has built 27 scientific projects and intiatives in hospital management, medical examnination and treatment and improvement of administrative reform to serve people.

Effective implementation and application of the new intensive techniques has helped the people to approach high-quality medical services at district level and reduce treatment expenses. The satisfaction index of public health service in 2022 reached 89.2 percent, up 0.4 percent year on year.

Application of the initiatives in management and practical activities has contributed to saving tens of billion VND for the state and people.
