Bac Giang wins 3 medals at national chess championship

(BGO) – The 2019 National Chess Championship for Strong Players was held in Quang Ninh province on November 16 – 24, drawing nearly 100 chess players from the provinces, cities and sectors to vie for the medal in singles’ standard and blitz chess categories. 

13 athletes from Bac Giang team joined the event and won 3 medals (1 silver and 2 bronzes).

Particularly, Vo Thi Kim Phung bagged a silver at women’s blitz chess while 2 bronzes were awarded to Vo Thi Kim Phung and Doan Thi Van Anh at women’s standard chess content.

As regulated, the first, second and third prize winners in standard chess will be selected to national team to prepare for the international events in 2020.

(BGO) - The 2019 ASEAN Chess Championship was concluded in Bac Giang Hotel, Bac Giang city on 3 November after 10-day tough competition. The closing ceremony was attended by leaders of ASEAN Chess Confederation, Vietnam Chess Federation, Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Bac Giang province and representatives, coaches and athletes of the delegations. 
Southeast Asia chess championship 2019 opens in Bac Giang
(BGO) - The Southeast Asia Chess Championships 2019 opened in the northern province of Bac Giang on October 28 at Muong Thanh Hotel (Bac Giang city) with Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Dong Tien, Chairman of Vietnam Chess Federation in attendance.

(BGO)- Following the generation of Mai Hung, Van Anh and Hai Anh, Bac Giang has a number of talented young chess players to continue their achievements. Luong Hoang Tu Linh is among the outstanding faces of the new generation. 
Vietnamese chess ace Khoi becomes GM
17-year-old Nguyen Anh Khoi has become the 11th Vietnamese chess grandmaster (GM). The International Chess Federation (FIDE) awarded him the title during the evaluation period on September 7-8 since Khoi has an Elo rating of 2520 and completed four title norms in international tournaments.
Vietnam finishes first at World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships
Vietnam topped the medal tally of the World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships which was held in Salobrena, Spain, from September 11-13.
