Fourteen urgent transport projects to be implemented in 2020

The transport sector will strive to complete 10 road projects and commence four railway upgrade projects in 2020 which have been approved by the National Assembly Standing Committee (NAST). The 14 urgent and important transport projects were approved by the NAST on July 31, 2018.  

The 10 road projects have a total investment of approximately VND8 trillion (US$ 343.3 million) including a highway connecting the Hanoi – Hai Phong highway with the Cau Gie – Ninh Binh highway, the upgrade of the National Highway 53’s Tra Vinh – Long Toan section, and the upgrade of the National Highway 30’s Cao Lanh – Hong Ngu section, among others.

The railway projects include the upgrade of essential works in the Hanoi – Vinh route, the upgrade of weak tunnels and the opening of new stations in the Vinh – Nha Trang route, the upgrade of essential works in the Nha Trang – Saigon route, and the upgrade of weak railway bridges in the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route.

The project on the upgrade of weak railway bridges in the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route will commence in June 2020 and the project on the upgrade of weak tunnels and the opening of new stations in the Vinh – Nha Trang route is scheduled to kick off in August 2020.

The construction of the remaining railway projects is expected to begin in November 2020.

New roads to link to northern mountains
Two new roads will be built connecting the northern mountainous region with Hanoi, said the Ministry of Transport.

Construction of interchange linking key roads begins
The construction of an interchange connecting Belt Road No 3 and the Ha Noi-Hai Phong Expressway and other related infrastructure started in Hanoi on January 6.
New road comes to far away villages
(BGO) – New happiness has recently come to the villagers in An Ba and Yen Dinh, Son Dong district, Bac Giang province. The early completed traffic project is put into operation, helping ease the trade exchange and accelerate the socio-economic growth.
