Visiting Hoa Son commune on the first days implementing social distancing, the announcements of the villages’ Management Board can easily catch your eyes “Due to complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, please don’t enter the village except for emergencies and neither do we”. Although it is just a motto to remind people of Covid-19 prevention and control, it has brought initial dramatic results.

The announcements are placed at the entrance to the villages to remind residents of travel restriction.

Facing complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, the village’s Management Board has effectively supervised and grasped the number of people working in Hanoi and other provinces especially self-employed labourers to ask them make health declaration to the Management Board when returning the locality. Besides, the village provides advocacy to raise people’s awareness of gathering limits and wearing face masks for pandemic fight, shared Tran Van Tien, Head of Huong Son village, Hoa Son commune.

In line with placing slogans at the entrances to the villages, many announcement boards have been hung in the communal people’s committee headquarter to notice rules for the public officials and citizens. This has impacted on almost all people in the commune especially on the peak days implementing social distancing campaign.

Apart from Hoa Son commune, many other localities in Hiep hoa district also implement this measure.

According to Ta Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for pandemic prevention and control (Steering Committee), the district People’s Committee and the Steering Committee praised the creative solution of Hoa Son commune. Besides, they directed other communes and townships in the district to learn and expand this solution to heighten people’s awareness of social distancing.

Although the commune does not place any roadblocks nor prevent people getting into the commune and villages, the streets in Hoa Son commune and other localities seem to be deserted these days. People only leave home for essentials. The creative measure of Hiep Hoa district has been influencing effective implementation of social distancing rule.
