Lao PM to co-chair inter-governmental committee meeting in Vietnam

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith will lead a delegation to Vietnam to attend and co-chair the 41st meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee from January 5-6, 2019, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry announced.

Trade between Laos and Vietnam topped 900 million USD in 2017, a year-on-year increase of over 10 percent. The two countries have set a target of 4 billion USD by 2020.
Vietnamese companies have invested 5 billion USD in 276 projects in Laos, mainly in energy, services, infrastructure, mining, agriculture
The 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee convened its eighth session on October 2.
Party General Secretary, Nguyen Phu Trong, delivered an opening speech at the 8th meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee on October 2, suggesting that the participants should focus on issues regarding socio-economic development, the Vietnam Maritime Strategy and Party building.
Measures to improve human resources and the capacity of crime prevention and control, as well as to perfect the legal system were put on the table at the ongoing eighth session of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee on October 3.
The 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam focused their discussions on the regulations on Party cadres and members’ responsibility for setting an example during the fourth working day of its 8th plenum on October 5.
The 8th plenum of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam wrapped up in Hanoi on October 6 after five days of working, completing all items on the agenda.
