"Life-line" connects development spaces in Bac Giang
Provincial Road 298 is of particular importance to the districts of Viet Yen, Tan Yen, and Yen The because it closely connects these localities, shortening the travel time compared to other roads. Every day, thousands of vehicles pass by the road but the bottleneck on this route is Dong Bridge, which links Ngoc Ly and Cao Xa communes (Tan Yen district).
To remove it, the provincial Department of Transport has invested in a project to renovate and repair Dong Bridge. The contractors consist of Bac Giang Transport Construction Joint Stock Company and Hoang Hai Construction - Trading Company Limited (Thai Nguyen province). The project has a total estimated investment of nearly 23 billion VND (996,800 UDD) sourced from the central budget. The 53.2m bridge features three spans, with its surface being 13m in width.

For many years, the frontage roads on both sides of the Hanoi-Bac Giang Expressway, running through Viet Yen and Yen Dung districts and the Quang Chau and Van Trung Industrial Parks, have been "hot spots" because they are too small and overloaded. With the determination to thoroughly fix this situation, the provincial Transport Project Management Unit (TPMU) has been assigned by the provincial People's Committee to be the investor of the project to upgrade and expand the frontage road on the right side of the Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway, section from the National Highway 37 overpass to the National Highway 17 overpass with a total length of 4.57km; Its total investment is more than 171 billion VND (7.4 million USD).
Than Ngoc Loc, head of the Project Management Division No.1 under the TPMU, said that the expanded frontage road will double the old one, with a 12m-wide foundation and a 11m surface. It has asphalt concrete structure on a macadam foundation.
These days, the contractors, including 370 Construction Trading Investment Joint Stock Company (Bac Giang city) and Tan Phat International Technology Company (Hanoi), have mobilized dozens of machines, technicians and workers for urgent construction. Up to now, the construction units have asphalted some sections and it is expected that the whole project will be completed by the end of the first quarter in 2021, thereby giving a new face to transport infrastructure near the industrial parks of the province.
This year, the provincial Department of Transport and the TPMU will implement a series of projects such as improving and upgrading provincial road 289, section from Chu to Khuon Than (Luc Ngan district); upgrading and expanding the frontage road on the left side of the National Highway 1, section from the National Highway 31 intersection to the Hung Vuong intersection and renovating the Hung Vuong intersection (Bac Giang city); improving and upgrading National Highway 37, section passing through Viet Yen and Hiep Hoa districts; building Chu Bridge; renovating and upgrading Provincial Road 295B, section from Lang Giang district to Bac Giang city; repairing the foundation and surface of National Highways 17, 31, 37 and 279.
Hoang Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, said that traffic works and projects have created a highlight for Bac Giang, serving as a foundation for accelerating the province’s economic growth in 2020, which was at the top of the country. In 2021, with many large-scale transport works and projects undergoing, Bac Giang will be a "great construction site".
These works will focus on connecting the transport network to districts and city in the province, especially linking areas serving as growth locomotives and key economic zones with difficult areas; and connecting the province with outside. They include those named in the national and regional planning. At the same time, the province identifies traffic routes and sections that need to be upgraded and built, connecting the local and inter-regional traffic networks, thus making Bac Giang a bright spot in investment attraction and. comprehensive socio-economic development.
