Luc Ngan lychee exported to many high-end markets

Updated: 21:38, 29/06/2020
(BGO) - After many efforts of agencies at all levels, ministries, sectors and growers, this year, Bac Giang’s fresh lychee has been exported to a number of high-end markets. This affirms the brand, quality and value of the product, paving the way for further expansion of consumption markets in the coming time.

This year, the export of fresh lychee to Japan, the US, Australia, Singapore and the Republic of Korea was quite favorable as the product had guaranteed quality and quantity, with increased consumption and good prices.

Lychee is on sale at an AEON supermarket in Tokyo.

On June 21, the enterprise responsible for the export of lychee to Japan, said that two tonnes of Luc Ngan lychee exported to the country of cherry blossoms for the first time were sold out at high prices after only a few hours of being put on the shelf. The lychee was preferred and appreaciated by Japanese consumers for quality and appearance.

After a good start, the whole province has to date shipped 20 tonnes of lychee to Japan by sea and by air. Tens of tonnes of Luc Ngan lychee have also been exported to the US, Australia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and Canada. The successful access to these high-end markets has raised the position of the product, opening up opportunities for lychee to reach new markets.

To help the product go through the "barrier" to enter foreign markets, the technical processes and measures from production to packaging have been applied synchronously. In particular, the caring stage has been supervised closely in line with requirements. In particular, the harvest took place in the cool weather before the sun rises, so the fruits were uniform, with 30-40 fruits per kg.

Hoang Ngoc Thanh in Lam village, Nam Duong commune (Luc Ngan district) - one of the households involved in producing lychee exported to Japan, said: “My family has more than one hectare of lychee granted growing area code. The entire area is cared according to the GlobalGAP process. So far, my family has sold 500kg of lychee to businesses to export to Japan for 30,000 VND per kg. It is expected that in the next few days, my garden will continue to sell another 500kg”.

Many households growing lychee in Ho Dap, Giap Son, Thanh Hai, Tan Son communes have shared this joy.

Besides guaranteed quality, the packaging of the product is also very important. If this stage is not done well, the goods cannot be cleared. Therefore, the province’s specialized agency coordinated with units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to complete a post-harvest lychee packaging and preservation line at the Global Export and Import Foodstuff Joint Stock Company, based in Phuong Son commune (Luc Ngan district).

After many trial runs, the line has been accepted by Japanese experts, meeting steaming and sterilization standards and other requirements for agricultural products to be xported to the country.

As of June 24, Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Chanh Thu Import-Export Limited Company, Red Dragon Trade and Services Co., Ltd, and Vina T&T Group purchased and exported nearly 200 tonnes of Luc Ngan lychee to the US, Australia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Canada and Japan.

.

Do Hoang Phuong, Director of the Global Export and Import Foodstuff Joint Stock Company, said that in the past three weeks, the company's production line has regularly operated to proccess the amount of lychee shipped to the Japanese market. From the beginning of the crop to June 27, Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company and Chanh Thu Import-Export Co., Ltd processed about 50 tonnes of fresh lychee for export here.

This season, the whole province has been granted 19 lychee growing area codes to export lychee to Japan with an area of 103 ha. It is expected that about 600 tonnes of lychee will be exported to this high-end market.

Tran Quang Tan, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said that according to the plan, from now until the end of the crop, the Japanese side will consume about 100 tonnes of lychee while the US, Australia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and Canada around 200 tonnes. The quantity of lychee expected to be sold to demanding markets is still small compared to the total output of growing areas per crop. However, this affirms that the quality and brand of the product have been promoted to a new level.
