Lychee crop enjoys high flowering rate

(BGO) - The early ripening and main season lychees in Bac Giang province have high flowering rate, reported the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DoARD).

In 2022, Bac Giang totally grown 28,000 ha of lychee, including 15,800 ha in Luc Ngan district (up about 350 ha year on year), 15,800 ha of lychee cultivated under VietGAP procedure and 6,500 ha of early ripening lychee.

So far, nearly 100 percent of early ripening lychee areas have flowered while some 75 percent of main season fruit are at the same stage which are 5 - 10 percent higher than the same period last year.

To gain high fruit bearing rate, the competent organizations of the DoARD and district weekly issue instruction to farmers, guiding them to regularly inspect and monitor the orchard so as to sufficiently provide water and fertilizer to the trees.
