Lychee enjoys smooth export via Lang Son border gates

Updated: 18:12, 14/06/2019
(BGO) – The output of fresh lychee exported via the border gates in Lang Son province has recently accounted for two thirds of the total export volume nationwide. At the peak harvest season of the fruit, the People’s Committee in Lang Son province  instructed the sectors to synchronously implement various solutions to ease the lychee export.

Clearing the customs procedures within 2 minutes

This year, most of the lychees in several provinces, especially Bac Giang, have been exported via Tan Thanh Border Gate. Hoang Thi Thieu Hoa, Vice Head of the Customs Office in Tan Thanh Border Gate said the competent agencies always create the best possible conditions to clear the procedures for all farm produce in general.

Regarding the fresh lychee, the customs sector only inspects via the electronic customs declaration system and requires the phytosanitary certificate for customs clearance, thus it takes less than 2 minutes to complete the procedure for a lychee carriage.

Under the instruction from Lang Son provincial People’s Committee, the competent agencies in the province and border gates have actively coordinated with Chinese relevant forces to create the best possible condition to clear the customs procedure for the lychee. Accordingly, the working time may last till 9pm every day, even in weekend to avoid delaying any lychee carriage to the next day.

Most of the competent agencies at Tan Thanh Border Gate prioritise the lychee export. In June 10, the lychee carriages were guided and routed by soldiers at Tan Thanh Border Guard then quickly exported to China.

With the role of managing the activities at the provincial border gates, the Management Board of Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has recently urged the Border Managing Centers to actively hold talks with the relevant agencies in China to timely handle any arising issue during the lychee transaction between both sides.

The competent agency reported that the total volume of fresh lychee exported via the boder gates in Lang Son province reached over 21,000 tonnes with total revenue of 5.5 million USD, 95 of which was exported via Tan Thanh Border Gate as of June 10.

Satisfying the quality requirement

According to the Sub-Department of Plant Quarantine of Region VII, the Chinese partner strictly controls the implementation of the regulations on package, stamp for origin traceability in the fresh lychee in this season.

The lychees are packed for export.

Though the major lychee growing localities, especially Bac Giang, have recently focused on expanding the export market to different countries, China is an important consumption market.

From early harvest season, the Chinese enterprises visited the areas to make the survey and order as well as supply a big quantity of foam boxes and labels to Vietnamese side to label and pack the fruits before conducting the customs declaration procedures.

Head of the Sub-Department of Plant Quarantine of Region VII Nguyen Thi Ha said the Sub-Department and other competent agencies create the utmost favourable condition to export the lychee in the quickest manner.

“To smoothly export the lychee with high selling price, the growers and enterprises should obey the standard and regulation on the fresh fruit quality to export to foreign markets,” Ha shared.
