Opportunities to export medical protective gear to the European-American market

The demand for importing personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies is growing in several European and American countries amid the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, which is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to export goods to these markets.

Realising the fact, the European-American Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has summarised a number of detailed requirements concerning the products that European and American countries are in need of.

The US and Spain currently have great demand for importing protective equipment and medical supplies to cope with Covid-19.

Specifically, in the US market, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce is in need of purchasing 500 million N95 masks, 200 million masks of other types, 200 million face protection shields, 1,000 ventilators, 5,000 IV pumps, one billion pairs of gloves (various sizes), 20 million medical gauzes, 100 million medical gowns and 50 million overalls.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is in need of 500 million N95 masks, 10 million goggles, one billion pairs of Nitrile gloves (various sizes), 10 million sets of single-use medical protective suits, and 10,000 ventilators.

In addition, the Southern California region also has an urgent need for N95 masks, masks of different types, invasive and non-invasive ventilators, IV pumps and other medical supplies. Businesses that can provide these can directly contact the email address LoVLA@portla.org.

The Spanish market also has great demand for protective gear, including 123 million Nitrile gloves with or without powder for medical examination and aseptic surgery, 286,000 goggles, 1.1 million single-use and 780,000 waterproof protective suits, and the maximum volume of FFP3 masks possible.
