Over 18,000 tonnes of early ripening lychee sold

(BGO) – It is the peak harvest season of early ripening lychee in Bac Giang province. At the end of June 5, more than 18,000 tonnes of lychee were sold at stable price.

So far, Tan Yen district has harvested about 13,000 out of 15,500 tonnes of fruit (estimated quantity for the whole season), accounting for over 80 percent.

The lychees were sold mainly in the domestic market. A few quantity was exported to the US market (more than 10 tonnes), Japan, Australia, the EU and some Southeast Asian countries (25 tonnes).

Luc Ngan district has consumed nearly 4,700 tonnes of early ripening lychee which were mostly sold in the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City and exported to China. Export output reached more than 1,600 tonnes. The remaining amount of early lychee from the districts of Luc Nam, Yen The and others will be for domestic market.

The price of early lychee this year ranges from 15-30,000 VND per kg while the price of lychee for export at the beginning of the season was from 30-40,000 VND per kg, up about 5,000 VND compared to 2022 season with smooth consumption.

According to Luc Ngan district Department of Economy and Infrastructure, the prices of utilities for lychee consumption are similar to last year with sufficient supply.

To attract more visitors to Bac Giang province, especially in this lychee season, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Luc Ngan district People's Committee have cooperated with relevant units to organize several events.

As schedule, in mid-June 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organize a survey and introduce some tourist attractions in the districts of Luc Ngan, Lang Giang and Viet Yen. Particularly in Luc Ngan district, the Department will coordinate with local authority to launch a seminar which introduces local tours, gathers opinions from experts and travel businesses in and outside the province about new tourist destinations in order to gradually create and build tourism products of the province.

Truong Van Nam, Vice Chairman of Luc Ngan District People's Committee said this year, the district directed to survey, select tourist attractions, cooperatives, beautiful lychee gardens meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP procedures with ease travel to welcome tourists (including overnight stay), mostly in the communes of Thanh Hai, Quy Son, Giap Son, Nam Duong, Tru Huu and Phuong Son.
