Over 20.8 trillion VND spent on new pensions and social insurance benefits

The Vietnam Social Security (VSS) on August 14 began the payment of pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances according to the new rates.

More than 3.3 million people will benefit from increases in pension and social insurance benefits according a Government Decree effective from July 1, 2023.

Payment of pensions and social insurance benefits conducted in Tay Ninh province on the morning of August 14.

A total payment of about 20.8 trillion VND (872.3 million USD) will be made, including new pension and social insurance benefits for August 2023 and unclaimed payments from July 2023.

From September 2023 onwards, the VSS will pay pensions and monthly allowances according to the routine schedule in July 2023.

The VSS is coordinating with the Vietnam Post to pay pensions and social insurance benefits via bank accounts and in cash.

Salary hiked for state workers
The base salary for state workers increases to VND1.8 million (US$76.32) from this month.
Base salary to rise to 1.8 million VND per month on July 1, 2023
The base salary for civil servants and public employees will be raised from 1.49 million VND to 1.8 million VND per month starting from July 1, 2023, following a recently issued Government decree.
Beneficiaries to receive new pension and social insurance from August 14
Vietnam Social Security (VSS) announced on July 18 that it would arrange the payment of pensions, social insurance benefits and monthly allowances according to the new rates from August 14, 2023.
Regional minimum wage may increase in 2024
Members of the National Wage Council agreed to propose increasing the regional minimum wage in 2024 at the council’s first meeting in 2023 on August 9.
Beneficiaries of minimum wage hike from July 1, 2023
The Vietnamese government has issued a decree on raising the minimum wage to 1.8 million VND (76.7 USD) per month for public employees and members of the armed forces from July 1, 2023.
