Two connection projects
Two lychee hubs in Vietnam, Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces made provincial plan in the period 2021 – 2030 with the vision to 2050 and orientation to effectively promote the local advantages and potentials; efficiently mobilize and use various sources for comprehensive and sustainable development.

In late November 2021, the People’s Committee in Bac Giang province approved for the project to construct Dong Viet bridge and its paths with total investment of nearly 1.5 trillion VND (66.1 million USD). The first point is located in Canh Thuy commune, Yen Dung district (Bac Giang province) and the last point is connected to the plan road in Hung Dao commune (Chi Linh city, Hai Duong). The project stretches totally 8.59km, including 731.2 m for Dong Viet bridge and its paths.
To create synchronous connection and effectively promote the project of Dong Viet bridge and its paths invested by Bac Giang province, in December 2021, the People’s Committee in Hai Duong province approved for the feasibility report of the project to link the paths of Dong Viet bridge to national road No.37 in Chi Linh city.
It is totally invested over 469.8 billion VND from the central and provincial budgets within the mid-term public investment plan in the period 2021 – 2025. The route stretches nearly 5.3km with the first end at km8+590 in Hung Dao commune in connection with the last end of Dong Viet bride and path project invested by the People’s Committee in Bac Giang province while the other intersects national road No.37 in Cong Hoa ward, Chi Linh city.
Early construction
According to Dam Van Cuong, Vice Director of the Management Board for traffic and rural project investment and construction projects (MBIC) in Bac Giang province, Dong Viet bridge and its paths in Bac Giang province are designed to pass four communes of Yen Dung district, some industrial parks and clusters in the district.

Dong Viet bridge will cross over Thuong river about 2.4km away from downstream of current Dong Viet port.
“The competent agencies in Bac Giang province have accelerated the investment preparation. The MBIC has designed the engineering drawing and striven to commence the project in May 2022,” said Cuong.
Now, the functional departments in Hai Duong province have proceeded necessary formalities to execute the project. The Department of Planning and Investment updated the paths of Dong Viet bridge in connection to national road No.37 in Chi Linh city when making the provincial plan while consulting the province to balance and arrange the annual capital for this project.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment reviewed and listed the land for reclamation to implement the project into the programme of land distribution in the provincial plan and land use plan in the period 2021 – 2025 as well as the annual land using plan as the base for land reclamation and handing over during project execution.
As the project investor, the MBIC in Hai Duong province has actively implemented formalities for investment preparation and cooperated with the Department of Transport negotiate with the Ministry of Transport about the location for connecting to national road No.37.
Moreover, the MBIC in Hai Duong and Bac Giang provinces have kept close contact to ensure synchronous implementation and connectivity between two projects.
“To date, the contractor selecting plan is approved. The investor has designed the engineering drawing, selected the contractors, prepared procedures, and collaborated to conduct the site work. As schedule in June 2022, the project will be commence,” said Le Anh Tuan, Vice Director of MBIC in Hai Duong province.
