Projects for children’s smiles

Updated: 18:43, 29/10/2019
(BGO) - The Children’s Support Fund of Bac Giang province (CSF) has mobilized a number of resources to support schools to carry out many projects and construction works having positive impacts on the community development instead of small gifts. These projects are aimed to create safe environment facilitating comprehensive development of the students in disadvantaged areas.

Small but meaningful facilities

Son Hai Kindergarten in Luc Ngan district has 270 children at the center school and its subsidiaries including Tam Che, Dong Mam, Co Vai and Dap areas. 76 percent of the households in this commune are poor and nearly poor facing a lot of economic difficulties; thus, it is hard for the school to mobilize socialized resources.

The school lacks of study facilities, toys and functional rooms. After surveying, CSF mobilized resources to support the teachers and students in Tam Che area with one educational toy kit worth 70 million VND (3,000 USD).

Previously, Luc Son primary school in Luc Nam district was donated a clean water project valued at 70 million VND (3,000 USD) in 2018 thanks to CSF. More than 500 students from the villages of Tho Son, Choi, Dam Tri, Van Non, Goc De, Dong Vanh, Ho Lao and Rung Long benefit from this project.

Luc Son is an especially disadvantaged commune where local people face numerous difficulties. Most of the students are ethnic minorities. The teachers and students here have to buy water for daily demands, which is very costly.

In early 2018, the clean water construction including the items of drilled well with pumping system, filter and water pipe with capacity of 80 litres per hour supported by CSF was brought into use.

This work contributes to treating polluted water source and serving demands for drinking water of the teachers and students while reducing costs for buying clean water.

Thanks to this project, the school and students’ parents can save from 30 million to 40 million VND (1,300 to 1,700 USD) for drinking water.

Besides, at the end of the school year, CSF guided the school to work with the supplier for maintenance of water filter to improve the durability and technical safety.

The gift of humanity comes to the right address

In recent 3 years, CSF has proactively called the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and donors to hand over 18 clean water works, out-door play kits, school facilities and thousands of paint cans to kindergartens and primary schools in the province especially in some districts of Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Son Dong, Tan Yen and Yen Dung.

The total fund for these programs is nearly 3 billion VND (130,000 USD) donated by organizations and enterprises such as Grain Association, Hope Association (France), Son Toa Vietnam Company Limited and Bao Viet Holdings, Bac Giang branch.

Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, representative of Asian Hope Association (France) said at a meeting between the donors and a number of schools in early 2019, “We are very happy that the gifts sent by the French donors via CSF have been promoted effectiveness. These fund resources contributed to reducing difficulties for the students and teachers and facilitated the comprehensive development of the students”.

According to Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, Director of CSF, in order to have fund resources to support the schools in disadvantaged areas, CSF set up some programs based on specific surveys such as the school clean water programme, play kits for children, refreshing schools and fund raising programmes.

In coming time, CSF will continue mobilizing resources from NGOs, enterprises and donors to help the school repair and build classrooms, buy study facilities and toys for primary and pre-school students and provide clean water works and toilets for the schools in disadvantaged areas.

With the projects for community, CSF expected to connect kind-hearted people to the disadvantaged localities and schools while inspiring people to be kind and live positively.
