Sharing love with disadvantaged children

(BGO)- The Bac Giang Association for Protection of Children's Rights, Bac Giang Newspaper and the Study Promotion Association of Bac Giang province on September 11 jointly organized the 7th “Dreams on a wing” programme for disadvantaged children in 2022.

The first “Dreams on a wing” programme was organized in 2016 on the new school year opening occasion. With its profound meaning of humanity, the programme has received attention and support from hundreds of organizations and kind-hearted individuals with the total donation of over 2.5 billion VND (105,748 USD) in cash in kind.

Thanks to joining hands of the organizations, individuals and enterprises, nearly 1,300 disadvantaged students have been helped to go to school. Many of them achieved high results in study.

This year, the Organizing Board received continuous attention and accompanying of more than 40 agencies, units, enterprises and kind-hearted people with a total value of over 400 million VND (17,000 USD) in cash and many gifts worth nearly 170 million VND (7,191 USD).

The Organizing Board has used the mobilized resources to give many scholarships and meaningful gifts. Of which, 55 students received scholarships at a total value of more than 130 million VND (5,500 USD) by foreign organizations including Grain Association and Hope Association (in France).

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Association for Protection of Children's Rights Vo Anh Dung stressed “Dreams on a wing” is a social activity with profound meaning of humanity, which is a bridge to spread love of enterprises and kind-hearted people in the entire nation to bring a better life for children. This programme has been spread and lured attention and involvement of more organizations and individuals; thus, the number of children given scholarships and learning facilities and tools has been year-on year increased and their study results have been much improved.

The leader of Vietnam Association for Protection of Children's Rights highly appreciated the initiative of Bac Giang Association for Protection of Children's Rights, Bac Giang Newspaper and the Study Promotion Association of Bac Giang province. Besides, he expected the “Dreams on a wing” programme would be organized in coming years.

Duong Thi Loi, Chairwoman of the provincial Association for Protection of Children's Rights and the sponsors present scholarships to children overcoming difficulties to gain good study results.

At this event, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee donated 30 million VND (1,269 USD) to build “love shelter” for disadvantaged children. Representative of the volunteer club named “A bridge of love” in Hanoi agreed to sponsor Ly Van Vuong, an orphan living in Tram village, Sa Ly commune, Luc Ngan district. This is the 3rd case in Bac Giang province sponsored by this club.

In order to recognize the kindness and joining hands of the enterprises, organizations and individuals, the Organizing Board presented logos to show gratitude to the sponsors, who have accompanied and supported the programme for many years contributing to gaining success of the programme. The Organizing Board expected to receive continuous support of the sponsors and kind-hearted people to help the programme spread further and give equal opportunities for every child.
