Spring Festival, Culture-Tourism Week 2023 to promote Bac Giang tourism, attract tourists

Updated: 17:40, 27/01/2023
(BGO) - After a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Spring Festival and the Culture-Tourism Week 2023 will open on February 2, 2023 or the 12th day of the first lunar month. This is an event of great significance to promote unique cultural values, creating momentum to promote the development of Bac Giang tourism.

Creating a highlight

For nearly three months, relevant departments, agencies and localities have made careful preparations to fulfil their assigned tasks. At the Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourist area in Son Dong district, preparations for the event have been made by relevant units of Son Dong district, from the decoration of the festival’s central area to the arrangment of parking areas and places for folk game competitions.

The Tay Yen Tu spiritual and ecological tourist area in Son Dong district is an attractive destination.

During the week-long event, the district will organize many activities such as a culture-tourism camp; displays of signature products and unique cuisine; folk games; a painting contest about Tay Yen Tu; concerts, dance and music performances.

In particular, at the cultural-tourist camp, communes and townships will engage in cultural and artistic exchange activities imbued with the identity of ethnic minorities. In Tay Yen Tu township, le cap sac (maturity ritual) of the Dao ethnic minority will be staged alongwith Pa Dung singing, contributing to promoting the preserved unique cultural heritage.

At Vinh Nghiem Pagoda in Yen Dung district, the art program "Buddha Gala", themed "Vinh Nghiem - Aura of Wisdom", will be held on the evening of February 1 or the 11th day of the first lunar month. In a new and unique form, the program tells stories with music about the background, career as well as the enlightenment process of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong; the formation and development of Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhist sect founded by the King-Monk in the spiritual life and Buddhism of Vietnam. The program is expected to see the participation of hundreds of actors, monks, and students.

In particular, the procession of the woodblock set "Cu Tran Lac Dao Phu" from Vinh Nghiem Pagoda to Thuong (Upper) Pagoda in Tay Yen Tu will feature 108 procession vehicles. At the central area, the provincial Museum will organise a display themed "The sacred imprints of Buddhism in Tay Yen Tu region – Thousand-year relics from the ground", featuring nearly 200 ancient artifacts unearthed in Tay Yen Tu area.

In addition to Son Dong and Yen Dung, Luc Ngan district will also organise a Sloong hao singing festival and a highland spring market where communes will set up booths to showcase the traditional dishes of ethnic minority groups.

Stimulating tourism

The Culture-Tourism Week 2023 will be organized by the provincial People's Committee with the theme "Sacred Tay Yen Tu", aiming to promote the unique cultural values and outstnading tourism potential of the province, especially the Buddhist cultural space with the path for popularizing the Buddha dharma of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect’s founders, helping to stimulate tourism.

In 2023, Bac Giang province set a target of welcoming about 2 million tourists. In the coming Culture-Tourism week, the Organizing Committee expects to host about 500,000-600,000 visitors.

The Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhism in the special national relic site of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is valuable not only to Vietnam but also to the world. In particular, three provinces including Bac Giang, Hai Duong, and Quang Ninh are making efforts to supplement the dossier "The complex of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac relic sites and landscapes" to seek UNESCO recognition as a world heritage site. This is very important for affirming cultural values, promoting economic development and creating regional links for the three localities.

In 2023, Bac Giang province set a target of welcoming about 2 million tourists. In the coming Culture-Tourism week, the Organizing Committee expects to host about 500,000-600,000 visitors. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has invited about 50 representatives of reputable travel businesses and associations of many provinces and cities in the region to take part in the event. This is an opportunity for tourism businesses and units to join hands to develop tours and tourism routes, bringing visitors to Bac Giang, thus stimulating tourism demand and promoting socio-economic development of the province.
