Taking business as service center to increase PCI score
BAC GIANG - In early May, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development announced the annual report of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) for 2023. Bac Giang province ranked 4th out of 63 provinces and cities in the PCI, of which 3 out of 10 important component indexes increased compared to the previous year.
The annual PCI is evaluated on 10 component indexes. In 2023, Bac Giang ranked 4th with 69.75 points which was assessed by businesses through a survey.

Notably, among the 10 component indexes, 3 important indexes increased compared to the previous year, including market entry of 7.05 points, up 0.4 points; time costs of 7.71 points, up 0.33 points; enterprise support policies of 7.24 points, up 1.14 points.
Nguyen Van Huong, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment said that the 3 increasing indexes are very important in promoting administrative procedure reform and improving the business and investment environment in the province.
Particularly, the business support policy index had the highest score increase. It went up 12 places compared to the previous year, ranking 10 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
Because this is a crucial index with high weight of 15% so it contributes to improving the overall score for the province's PCI results. Bac Giang was listed in the group of 5 provinces and cities with good economic management quality nationwide in 2023.
This year, the province strives to be in the group of 10 leading provinces and cities in the country in PCI ranking. Therefore, it is very important to raise the scores of the above 3 component indexes.
Last May, the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to implement the PCI index in 2024. Accordingly, the province continues to assign focal units to be in charge and implement specific targets.
