At the ceremony, Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee presented the President’s decisions to confer the People’s Artisan titles to Luu Xuan Lai in Phuc Chu Commune, Dinh Hoa District; as well as the Meritorious Artisan titles to Phan Van Quang in Phan Dinh Phung Ward, Thai Nguyen City and Ma Van Cuoi in Dong Thinh Commune, Dinh Hoa District. In addition, Ma Ngoc Choi in Quan Trieu Ward, Thai Nguyen City, was posthumously bestowed the Meritorious Artist title.

The artisans have devoted their lives to the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritages in the province.

Through the tourism promotion programme, Thai Nguyen wished to enhance the cultural exchanges, solidarity and mutual understandings among ethnic groups in the province as well as seek more cooperation and investment opportunities for tourism development.

On the occasion, the smart tourism portal thainguyentourism.vn (trial version) was officially launched to help visitors to find information about the locality’s destinations, tourism and culture, while businesses and management agencies can update the necessary information.

A programme introducing tea – a specialty of Thai Nguyen Province and performing intangible cultural heritages among ethnic groups in the province was held earlier on the same day, attracting a large number of locals and visitors.

Thai Nguyen possesses numerous famous landscapes and historical and cultural relic sites, including the national special relic ATK Dinh Hoa, where President Ho Chi Minh and many Party, State and army leaders stayed and worked during the resistance war against French colonialism. The province welcomed over 2.5 million tourists in 2018.

Outstanding artisans in intangible culture field honoured

Vinh Long province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised a ceremony on June 19 to honour Meritorious Artisans in the field of intangible cultural heritage and announce the decision on recognising two national treasures.
