The annual Tay Thien Festival kicked off in Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province on March 20 (the fifteen day of the second lunar month), attracting thousands of visitors and local residents.
The event is held to worship Mother Lang Thi Tieu, who helped the king to defeat invaders and taught the people how to grow rice on the dawn of the nation’s history.

Visitors at the festival will have an opportunity to take part in sporting events and folk games such as tug of war, Chinese chess, and bag jumping while competing in a contest on making traditional cakes.
A volleyball tournament and a folk singing fest are also scheduled as part of the festival.
Tay Thien landscape complex was recognised as a special national relic site in 2015. The Tay Thien festival aims to honour the traditional cultural values of Tam Dao district and inspire national pride among the public.
During this year’s event, the local public security forces have taken a wide range of measures to ensure social order and safety for visitors, helping them celebrate a happy and joyful festival.
Vinh Nghiem pagoda festival – enhancing cultural heritage
(BGO) – Annually on the lunar February, Vinh Nghiem pagoda in Tri Yen commune (Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province) vibrantly welcomes the festive season. The spring festival this year boasts several new features. The pagoda space is expanded with many items newly built and restored, helping connect and enhance the national intangible cultural heritage.
Bac Giang Newspaper Run and Walking Festival to take place on 17 March
(BGO) - The opening ceremony and a number of activities of the 38th Bac Giang Newspaper Run and Walking Festival for active Vietnamese generation will take place at the 3-2 square, Bac Giang city in the Sunday morning of 17 March. This event is jointly held by Bac Giang Newspaper, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Education and Training; Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the People’s Committee of Bac Giang city.
Yen The Festival highlights traditional values
(BGO) – Deriving from the spirit of martial arts and the desire for freedom of the Yen The Uprising led by farmer leader Hoang Hoa Tham, the Party committee, government and people of Yen The district, Bac Giang province have promoted and honoured the precious traditions. This year, celebrating the 135th anniversary of the Yen The Uprising, the festival will be organized on a large scale, with many new points.
