After nine months of launching, the organisation board received 2,659 entries by 430 professional and amateur photographers from Vietnam, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Spain, the Philippines, and Japan.

The photo ‘Hanoi – Looking from above’ by Le Ngoc Huy won the first prize.

Sixteen best photos won prizes at the event, including 15 taken by Vietnamese photographers and one by a Singaporean.

There were one first prize, two second and three third prizes, along with 10 consolation prizes.

This is the first international art photo contest held by Hanoi to promote the city’s history, culture and people.

Duong Nguyen’s photo titled ‘The he tuong lai’ (Future generation) was honoured with third prize.

The event also aims to honour Hanoi as a capital city with thousand-year-old culture and a city for peace.

As many as 106 best photos from the contest are being put on show at 45 Trang Tien street in Hanoi from October 10 to 14.

Photojournalist wins three silver medals

Photojournalist Viet Van from Lao dong (Labour) newspaper has won three silver medals at the Photography of the Year 2019 competition announced by the Australia-based Better Photography Magazine on October 2.
