The district People's Committee sets the goal of maintaining the total herd of livestock to ensure sufficient quantity and output for markets in and outside the province. The district strives to basically sell the number of local livestock, contributing to stabilizing production.

The district has developed two options. Under normal conditions, it will continue to direct the restoration and raising of new livestock herds; stabilize the existing ones, while focusing on developing a number of livestock species of strength such as goat and deer to ensure suitability with the local conditions.

The district will enhance direction over transfer and application of biosafety breeding and VietGAHP processes into production; supply and support people with vaccines and chemicals for vaccination and environmental sanitation in animal husbandry. At the same time, it is creating favorable conditions for households, individuals and businesses to purchase and sell livestock.

The People's Committees of communes and townships shall coordinate with relevant agencies of the district to strengthen the management of purchasing points, especially for hill chickens; resolutely handle and not allow the circulation of livestock, people and vehicles that do not comply with regulations on animal quarantine and Covid-19 prevention and control.

In case of complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in consumer markets, specialized agencies will recommend farmers to well take care of, prevent and control diseases for livestock; instruct breeding households to reduce the total herd size in order to limit the damage when they can not sell all the animals.

At the same time, there will be a mechanism to support people with a part of the cost of vaccination and chemicals for cleaning and disinfecting the environment, especially for prevention of influenza in poultry.

The locality will create favorable conditions for households, individuals and businesses to purchase and sell products; support the environment disinfection and at purchasing and transshipment points; and cover part of the cost of Covid-19 testing for traders in the district and those coming to buy products…

Following this direction, over the past time, specialized agencies of the district have asked staff to closely grasp grassroots-level situation; strengthen communications on prevention and control of diseases, hunger and cold for livestock and use of homemade food to reduce product costs; and partially support chemicals to disinfect the environment.

They have done a good job of guiding farmers to improve product quality by following advanced breeding processes; coordinate and step up the promotion of the brands of hill chicken and products made from chicken (spring rolls and sausages); and boost connections for the consumption of livestock products.

Together with the authorities and relevant agencies, the people of Yen The district have also actively taken care of their livestock to sell during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. Bui Van Nhan from the residential area Mac 2 of Phon Xuong township said: "We raise chickens all year round, but still expect to earn more from the batch sold during Tet. Besides selecting good breeds, I pay attention to disease prevention and follow the breeding process in line with the instructions of specialized agencies, ensuring the maturity of chickens when selling to keep the brand.”

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the total herd of livestock in the district is about 89,500 heads, including 3.5 million fowls, of which 1.5 million will be sold during Tet. In addition to the local consumption, the markets of Yen The hill chicken are Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and some northern provinces. With the efforts of many sides, it is believed that livestock products of the district will be sold smoothly during the Lunar New Year holiday.
