Thanks to higher productivity, the total value gained from lychee and supporting services hit about 6.9 trillion VND (297.6 million USD) including 5.2 trillion VND from lychee and 1.7 trillion VND from utility services, up 600 billion VND comparing to 2019 season.
Active and creative method

This year was the first time the provincial People’s Committee has actively coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the lychee promotion teleconference with huge scale with 63 points across the nation and 4 points at Yunnan and Guangzhou provinces (China). It helped closely link the local authorities at all levels to the domestic and foreign traders to accelerate the lychee consumption.
Actually, the border gates in Lang Son and Lao Cai provinces have prioritized the specific routes to quickly export lychee to China, the traditional and biggest market of Bac Giang lychee during this year harvest season.
Moreover, the localities defined it is the key and crucial task to produce clean and safe lychee toward long term development. Thus, the VietGAP and GlobalGAP lychee cultivation areas highly increased this year with more than 15,200 ha, up about 1,200 ha comparing to the 2019 figure (in which Luc Ngan district has 11,100 ha).
Besides, the export market is widely expanded in 2020 season. Apart from the old markets of China, Thailand, Republic of Korea, EU..., this year the fruit is exported to Japan. After entering the highly demanding market, Bac Giang lychee will have more chances to assess to other markets.
Thus, since early this season, the provincial People’s Committee has instructed the relevant authorities and sectors to closely coordinate with the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) to select and proposed Japanese side to approve 19 growing area codes with total area of 103ha which meet tight condition from the partner. As the result, the province exported about 200 tonnes of lychee to Japan.
The public security, traffic safety and Covid-19 prevention and control are paid due attention during the lychee season. Besides, Luc Ngan district invested in concreting and expanding several rural roads to ease the truck’s travel directly to the orchard to buy the fruits. This year, there is no traffic congestion in Luc Ngan district as previous time, the commodities enjoy smooth transport which is a favourable condition for the upcoming lychee seasons.
