Bac Giang ensures conditions to organize online conference for lychee consumption promotion

(BGO) – The Permanent Vice Chairman of Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Lai Thanh Son on June 1 chaired a meeting to review the preparation for Online Conference of 2020 Lychee Consumption Promotion.

At the event, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) Tran Quang Tan briefly reported the content and preparation for the live broadcast of the online conference for lychee consumption promotion on the next June 6.

Accordingly, the event expects to draw 300 participants at the point of provincial Conventional Hall while there will be 30 to 60 representatives for each point of Lang Son and Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee as well as 59 others at the DoIT in the provinces and cities and China.

The Vice Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Ba Thanh informed that the province has consumed some 16,000 tonnes of early ripen lychees mostly in Tan Yen district. It is nearly the end of early ripen lychee season and start of main lychee. Thus, the DoIT and relevant agencies should pay due attention to picking up foreign traders, especially Chinese ones to the province to buy the fruits.

The leader of Luc Ngan district People’s Committee affirmed that many local businesses and cooperatives have inked contract to sell lychee with Chinese partners though the Chinese traders have yet to come.

To prepare for the online conference, the VNPT Bac Giang Trading Center has assigned staff with sufficient equipment, communication channel for pilot operation.

The Department of Health prepared and inspected all conditions of man powers and facilities to receive the Chinese traders and Japanese experts.

Concluding the meeting, PPC Permanent Vice Chairman Lai Thanh Son praised the active preparation for online promotion conference made by the DoIT and other departments, sectors, agencies and localities.

He said this is the first time the province has held the online conference to promote the lychee consumption due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, thus the Department of Information and Communication should further accelerate the communication while the departments, sectors and localities timely provide information to the press agencies for the promotion task.

The DoIT will act as the contact point to link the lychee consumption in the province with the enterprises in and outside the country while well promoting the lychee consumption in Luc Ngan and other districts. The consumption promotion should be accelerated. All favourable conditions should be created to the domestic traders and retail owners.

Besides, the province will continue clear Chinese market, facilitate the Chinese traders to come for lychee consumption and promotion activities while ensuring the strict supervision for Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control.

Nearly 6,500 tonnes of fresh lychee exported via Kim Thanh Border Gate
Since the beginning of the season, nearly 6,500 tonnes of fresh lychees, worth more than US$3.6 million in total, have been exported to China through Kim Thanh Border Gate in Lao Cai Province, up 37% in volume and 39% in value compared to the same period last year.
