BAC GIANG - In 2023, the Steering Committee
for Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) in Bac Giang province has coordinated with
organizations, agencies, units and schools in the province to organize 36 Blood
Donation Festivals, attracting more than 21,000 participants and receiving more
than 27,000 units of safe blood (nearly 4,800 units higher than in 2022),
reaching 170 percent of the plan assigned by the Center.
Some typical districts achieving high results and exceeding the set targets are Viet Yen (3,986 units), Luc Ngan (3,144 units), Hiep Hoa (2,709 units), Luc Nam (2,650 units) and Tan Yen (2,167 units).

All of the above blood was transferred to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Vietnam German Hospital and Provincial General Hospital to supplement the blood bank, serving emergency work and patient treatment.
To gain this result, all chapters of Red Cross Society in the province have stepped up propaganda to raise people's awareness about the humane and noble meaning of blood donation and transfusion on mass media while promptly honoring and rewarding the typical blood donors.
In 2024, the whole province strives to propagate and mobilize about 25,000 people to register for blood donation so as to receive 22,000 units of safe blood.

Blood donation drive inspires compatriotism among Vietnamese people
The Red Journey blood donation drive 2023 was held widely in 46 provinces and cities across the country. Throughout its 11 editions, the campaign has not only been established as an effective solution to address the shortage of blood for treatment every summer, but has also contributed to inspiring compatriotism, and mutual support for the Vietnamese people.
4,560 blood units donated at Red Journey Programme

After 2 months launching the 2023 Red Journey blood donation programme (from 1
June to 31 July), Bac Giang province has organized 4 voluntary blood donation
festivals attracting nearly 3,500 participants. The campaign has received 4,560
safe blood units, meeting the criteria of the Ministry of Health and exceeding
52 percent against the plan (3,000 units).
One Bac Giang citizen honored as national voluntary blood donor
(BGO) – The
National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation on July 29 joined
hands with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRS) and the
National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize an event in Hanoi to honor
100 national voluntary blood donors in 2023, one came from Bac Giang province.
