Bac Giang improves workforce training quality to meet enterprise demands

Updated: 07:32, 25/05/2025

BAC GIANG – Recognizing the importance of skilled human resources, local authorities and vocational training institutions in Bac Giang province have been actively reforming and upgrading training quality to meet business needs and enhance employment prospects for graduates.

Productive school-enterprise collaboration

Bac Giang currently has 53 vocational training institutions. Between 2020 and 2024, these institutions enrolled and trained an average of 30,000 students per year, including nearly 1,700 at the college level and over 5,200 at the intermediate level, with the rest receiving short-term training.

Recruitment Department of Luxshare-ICT Co., Ltd. consults on job positions with students of Thai Nguyen University of Industry.

As of now, 78% of the local workforce has undergone vocational training, with 34% holding degrees or certifications—6.5 percentage points higher than the national average.

Survey data show that 92–95% of vocational school and college graduates in Bac Giang are employed in suitable positions by enterprises, with an average starting salary of 10.5 million VND per month. This high employment rate is largely credited to the strong partnerships between schools and businesses.

Since late 2019, the Bac Giang Industrial Technical College has partnered with Newwing Interconnect Technology Co., Ltd., based in Van Trung Industrial Park, to implement a “50-50” training model.

Under this model, students split their time equally between theoretical lessons at school and hands-on practice at the company. Each year, Newwing subsidizes part of the tuition for about 300 students, totaling around 1.7 billion VND. These students are trained directly for job roles the company needs to fill.

At Bac Giang Ethnic Minority Vocational College, enrollment for the 2024–2025 academic year is expected to reach nearly 1,000 students. Principal Nguyen Thi Hong shared that since 2018, the school has collaborated with 10 enterprises inside and outside the province to run a “Learn–Practice–Work” model.

This ensures that all final-year students gain practical experience on actual production lines. Over 80% of graduates find employment, many of whom are hired by the same companies where they interned.

Hoang Thi Yen, born in 2003 and a native of Canh Nau commune (Yen The district), recounted: “In our final year, the school arranged a three-month internship at Ha Thanh Fashion Garment Joint Stock Company in Hiep Hoa district. With thorough guidance from the company’s technical team, we quickly adapted to the production line. After graduating in mid-2024, I applied and was hired as a sewing line technician with a monthly salary of nearly 11 million VND”.

Strategic training to match labor market needs

In 2025, enterprises in Bac Giang are expected to require nearly 120,000 workers. From 2025 to 2030, annual labor demand is projected at around 95,000, including 7,000 workers with intermediate-level qualifications or higher.

Competitive salary offerings—ranging from 10–15 million VND for skilled technical workers and 15 million VND and above for managers—are being used to attract qualified talent.

According to Hoang Thi Thuy, head of recruitment at Luxshare-ICT Co., Ltd., the company seeks to hire about 2,000 high-quality employees annually for technical and managerial roles. Selected candidates are considered as potential core staff and are sent to Taiwan (China) for further training, provided they meet the required qualifications.

To keep pace with these labor market demands, vocational schools have begun focusing on training in key disciplines. Since the 2017–2018 academic year, Bac Giang Vietnam–Korea College of Technology has consistently exceeded its enrollment targets.

Principal Nguyen Cong Thong stated that the college currently offers training in 20 high-demand disciplines such as IT, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, automotive technology and fashion design.

The College also partners with universities and colleges in South Korea, Japan, and China to run short-term specialized training programme. Notably, the college collaborates with Hana Micron Vina Co., Ltd in Van Trung Industrial Park to train students for the semiconductor industry, and with SEOJIN Vietnam Co.,Ltd in Song Khe–Noi Hoang Industrial Park for automated mechanical engineering roles.

Given the forecasted rise in demand for high-quality labor, Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee launched initiatives to attract and develop skilled workers.

In 2024, the province sent several working groups to various provinces and universities to promote labor mobility and coordinate recruitment efforts between businesses and potential employees.

Tran Van Ha, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Home Affairs, affirmed the department’s commitment to disseminating recruitment information and supporting enterprises that invest in vocational school partnerships.

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to attract and retain skilled labor, ensuring employment for new graduates and enhancing Bac Giang’s workforce readiness for global integration.
