Thanks to great efforts, close coordination of domestic organizations and agencies as well as high perseverance, determination and professional investment of US based Dragonberry Produce Company in Canby City, Oregon, nearly 20 tonnes of Bac Giang fresh lychees were officially exported to the US by sea then distributed and sold at Safeway and Albertsons supermarkets in the Western states.

In Washington, Oregon and California, the lychees have been sold in the supermarket system since June 30, 2023 to serve American consumers on the occasion of National Day on July 4. This was the first large-scale sea shipment of Bac Giang to this market, helping open a new transport channel for lychee consumption to the US.
Safeway supermarket is the largest supermarket chain on the West of the US with 913 stores while Albertsons supermarket chain has more than 300 stores. It is a great success to continue selling lychee at these supermarkets at a fairly competitive price of only 3.99 USD/pint (200,000 VND/kg) during consumption promotion of Vietnamese fruits in general and lychee in particular in the US. Because most of Vietnamese fruits exported to this market can only access to small markets and supermarkets serving Asian consumers.
