Bac Giang rewards Trinh Duy Hieu- silver medalist at IPhO 2019

(BGO) - The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province held a meeting on 17 July to congratulate Trinh Duy Hieu, a 12th grader of the Physic class, Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students who won silver medal at the 50th International Physics Olympiad 2019 (IPhO 2019) in Israel.

The 50th International Physics Olympiad 2019 (IPhO 2019) took place from 7 to 15 July in Tel Aviv city (Israel) with participation of 360 students from 78 countries and territories.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong presents certificate of merit and rewards by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee to teacher Nguyen Van Doa and Trinh Duy Hieu.

After passing two 5-hour long exams in professional theory and practical physics tests, Trinh Duy Hieu won silver medal. His result contributed to the general achievement of Vietnamese team in which all 5 members bagged medals with 3 golds and 2 silvers, ranking 4th headed by China, Republic of Korea and Russia.

Previously, Trinh Duy Hieu also won silver medal at IPhO 49 in 2018 in Portugal.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Anh Duong presented certificate of merit by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and a reward of some 40.2 million VND (1,730 USD) to Trinh Duy Hieu while his teacher Nguyen Van Doa also received the certificate of merit and a reward of some 28 million VND (1,200 USD).

Besides, leaders of the municipal people’s committee of Bac Giang city gave a reward of more than 27 million VND (1,165 USD) to Hieu.

These rewards were taken from the Fund for Emulation and Commendation of the province and Bac Giang city.

On this occasion, leaders of the provincial Department of Education and Training and the Former Teachers’ Association rewarded Trinh Duy Hieu and Viet Bach Architecture Company presented him 30 million VND (1,300 USD).

Trinh Duy Hieu expressed his thanks to the provincial leaders, leaders of Bac Giang city, the provincial Department of Education and Training, enterprises and his teachers and friends for encouraging and motivating him to make great efforts in studying to gain dramatic results.
