Trinh Duy Hieu lengthens his list of outstanding achievements

Trinh Duy Hieu has gained outstanding achievements during his 12 years of studying hard. Particularly, he has won the titles of excellent student for many academic years and bagged gold medal in physics at the contest for excellent students of high schools for the gifted in northern coastal and delta areas in the academic year of 2016-2017. He consecutively won the first prizes at the national contest for excellent students when he was at grade 11 and 12.

Nguyen Thi Thuy, Hieu’s mother could not accompany her son during his competition abroad. In her house at Dao Su Tich Street, Ngo Quyen ward, Bac Giang city, she shared, “My family have followed the competition via mass media these days. We could hardly contain our joys and pride when our son overcame a new challenge”.
Success gained from endless efforts
At APhO, each country sends an 8-contestant team. Every contestant had to take two 5-hour long exams, one theory and one practical physics test. The scores for the theory and practical exams are 30 and 20 respectively.

According to head teacher Nguyen Van Doa who directly instructed Hieu, Hieu is not “chip off the old block” but he always studies hard and strives for his targets.
The teacher and student have made endless efforts spending most of their time for practising while focusing on solving various types of physics problems, studying the world’ latest physics research works and paying attention to specific and real phenomena.
In line with his great efforts, Hieu’s success has been achieved by his experiences in a number of big competitions, which helped him confident in doing the tests.
Hieu’s outstanding achievement at the Asian Physics Olympiad brought a great pride to himself, his family, Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students and the provincial educational sector as well.
With his silver medal, Hieu will join the Vietnamese national team to compete at the International Physics Olympiad organized in Israel this July.
The provincial Chairman Nguyen Van Linh held a meeting on 14 May at the Office of the provincial People’s Committee to honor Trinh Duy Hieu. After giving flowers, a certificate of merit and reward of more than 18 million VND (771 USD) from the provincial Fund for Emulation and Rewards, Nguyen Van Linh highly appreciated achievements of Trinh Duy Hieu and great contributions of his family and teachers of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted Students. He stressed, Trinh Duy Hieu’s outstanding results is a good lesson for the provincial Department of Education and Training and Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students to better the comprehensive education and nurturing excellent students. Besides, he requested the leaders of the provincial Department of Education and Training and Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students to closely collaborate with the Ministry of Education and Training to facilitate Hieu in preparing for the upcoming International Physics Olympiad. |
