Bac Giang scientists in Hanoi make positive contributions to the homeland

(BGO) - The Association of Bac Giang scientists in Hanoi held a year-beginning meeting at the Academy of Journalism and Communication on 17 March. The meeting was attended by Nguyen Van Linh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Ngo Sach Thuc, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front, representatives of some related agencies, localities and the Association of fellowmen of the districts of Luc Nam, Yen The and Tan Yen in Hanoi.

After 6 years of the establishment with 34 first members, the Association of Bac Giang scientists in Hanoi has attracted 174 members who are scientists working in various fields.

In 2018, the Association carried out a number of activities contributing to the homeland such as providing training, technical transfer, seminars and new scientific knowledge to some related agencies, directly connecting to the senior specialists, providing consultancy and response to the reports and projects of the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee, free medical check and medicine to the policy beneficiaries and calling for support from donors in building new-style rural areas.

Addressing the meeting, on behalf of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Father Front of Bac Giang province, Nguyen Van Linh extended his fine congratulations to Bac Giang scientists in Hanoi. Besides, he briefed them on socio-economic development of the province in 2018.

Particularly, the average economic growth rate in the 2016-2018 period reached 14.2 percent and hit 16 percent in 2018, ranked 3rd nationwide. The industrial sector has seen dramatic growth while the agricultural sector has comprehensively developed reaching the highest growth rate over the past 20 years at 6.5 percent

The province ranked 2nd out of 15 northern mountainous provinces in building new-style rural areas. The business climate has been improved while the cultural sector has seen dramatic advancement and education hold its top rank nationwide with a number of high prizes.

These results have been achieved thanks to great efforts of the province itself and support from Bac Giang people who live far from the homeland including the Association of Bac Giang scientists in Hanoi.

In addition, the provincial Chairman shared, Bac Giang faced many difficulties compared to other localities nationwide while its potentials and advantages have not been comprehensively exploited and promoted. 

He hoped the Association would continue fulfilling their roles as a bridge to connect the members, experts and scientists from other localities to the province contributing to the course of construction and development of the homeland.

Besides, he requested them to promote the province’s image to attract investment in the industrial sector, high-tech agriculture, services, spiritual and ecotourism to the province. Especially, he expected to receive more consultancy and responses to the key socio-economic tasks of the province in time to come and support for the development of the province.

He stressed, the provincial leaders appreciate opinions of the scientists and they will facilitate their supporting activities to the province. On this occasion, the Association of Bac Giang scientists in Hanoi honoured 4 outstanding scientists in 2018.
