Looking forward to this event, recently, Bac Giang city has implemented a series of meaningful activities. People of Dinh Ke ward voluntarily donated money to decorate key roads with colourful lights.

Along with hanging more than 3,000 panels and slogans on the streets and overpasses, and encouraging people to hang the national flag, Bac Giang city has mobilized nearly 40 billion VND (1.73 million USD) from social sources to plant trees and make flower carpets on some streets and pedestrian zones.

Cultural and sports activities have been organized, including Song Thuong singing programme; badminton, athletics and football tournaments; and exchanges between folk music clubs. Members of the Ornamental Creature Associations of the province and Bac Giang city have exhibited hundreds of beautiful, strange and unique ornamental plants, creating green, clean and beautiful landscapes to celebrate the event.

Many districts have also organized welcoming activities. Viet Yen district held Quan Ho (love duet singing) performances in a number of relic sites to serve domestic and international delegations in order to promote the cultural heritage of Quan Ho associated with tourism development.

Luc Ngan district directed communes with beautiful landscapes and famous historical sites to clean up the environment, hang banners and slogans, prepare the best conditions to welcome guests, and encourage people to behave and communicate in a civilized and friendly manner, showing hospitality.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with districts and Bac Giang city to arrange 22 booths featuring tourism products and OCOP agricultural products in Bac Giang during the SEA Games 31.

Spreading sport spirit

The preparation, communication and promotion work has been stepped up, attracting a large number of people to cheer for the event. Over the past month, many people came to the Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium to check-in.

The cycling club of Tan Ninh residential area, Tran Phu ward (Bac Giang city) has nearly 20 members. On every Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon, in yellow star red T-shirts, the members cycled for nearly 20 km through many main streets of Bac Giang city and together took beautiful photos at the Bac Giang Gymnasium.

The system of restaurants, hotels and food shops are also quite busy preparing conditions to serve guests. The relevant forces have actively persuaded people and business establishments to well observe regulations on food safety and hygiene.

Nguyen Trong Bac, Deputy Director of the Bac Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and deputy head of the local Organizing Committee for SEA Games 31 Badminton, said that over the past few days, the unit has actively coordinated with relevant agencies to inspect locations such as the Bac Giang Gymnasium, Muong Thanh Hotel and the provincial Guest House on preparations for serving athletes.

Today (May 16), the whistle to open the badminton matches officially sounded. Celebrating the 31st SEA Games with excitement, joy, honor and pride when badminton competitions are held in friendly and hospitable Bac Giang city, the authorities, agencies, and people of Bac Giang have been trying their best for a successful and impressive SEA Games.
