Benefits of electronic health record

(BGO) – Bac Giang is one of the provinces which early completed making the public electronic health record (PEHR) with high rate. Now, the system starts integrating with other software at the medical facilities across the province to serve the health examination and treatment.

Quickly retrieving case history

According to the Department of Health (DoH), the PEHR managing system now integrates 209 communes, wards and towns with the medical centers in the districts and city as well as the provincial hospitals.

The data of patient’s health examination and treatment is updated into electronic health record at the Medical Center of Viet Yen district.

To operate the system, the provincial People’s Committee early issued the plan No.1322/KH-UBND on April 26, 2017 about making the document, examining and managing health condition of the local residents.

The DoH requested the medical facilities to set key target to operate the PEHR system in the period 2017 – 2020 while instructing to pilot model in Yen The district in 2017. In 2018, Yen Dung district completed the target while other localities conducted the task within 2019.

In Viet Yen district, the whole data was input into the provincial PEHR system. The system saved information of more than 202,100 local people (accounting for 92.34 percent of the population), helping the district Medical Center professionally and effectively manage and care for the public health condition, especially the pregnant women, elder persons and patients with chronic diseases.

Yen The is the first district in the province completing to make PEHR in 2017. According to Director of district Medical Center Dang Huu Tuan, during operation, the system basically meets the requirement of data input, personal data extract to reduce the completion time of administrative procedure, shorten down the health examination procedure that help satisfy the patients when visiting medical facilities.

During the general health examination for the people and data input into system in the period 2017 – 2019, 6,200 cases were detected to suffer from high blood pressure, 4,700 people with diabetes, 300 people with aasmus together with several acute and chronic diseases in the province to put under timely treatment and management.

The PEHR helps doctor make quick and accurate diagnosis at the first examination facility; limit the transfer to higher level and reduce the cost. The whole data in the system is strictly and safely controlled.

Well controlling over groups of disease

Currently, the PEHR software has smoothly integrated with 3 software of vaccination, health examination and treatment, payment for diseases covered by health insurance among communal, district and provincial levels.

When each citizen owns a PEHR, the DoH continues instructing the medical facilities to speed up the implementation of electronic case history which is now developed at 3 facilities of Tumour Hospital, Pediatrics and Obstetrics Hospital
and Anh Quat General Clinic (Tan Yen district).

According to DoH Director Tu Quoc Hieu, managing public health is a key solution for the medical sector to plan the public health care policies and implement the medical intervening activities. The system also supports to well control over the groups of disease, status of infection and fatality, illness relating to family, living environment or hygiene factors.

Now, 93 percent of the provincial population has PEHR. In the upcoming time, the medical sector will focus on investing in developing the information technology (IT) infrastructure, machine and equipment while the medical centers and station, hospitals strive to foster and enhance the IT qualification to the doctors, nurses and technicians.

At the same time, the competent sector will further reform the administrative procedure toward document standard, procedure simplification; provide more administrative procedure on public service portal at level 4 (complete transaction via computer); reinforce IT application in control and management to quickly handle the administrative procedure.

Now, Bac Giang province is preparing to update to national PEHR system and striving to integrate to the central run hospitals in the upcoming years.

Personal health records created for Viet Yen’s residents

Personal health records created for Yen Dung’s residents
(BGO) – Implementing the public health record, the Medical Center in Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province has organized the health checkups and profile management for over 80,000 people in the first group (kids under 6 year-olds without attending the kindergarten, the elderly, retired people and free labors) at 21 communes and towns in the district, accounting for 86 percent of the group since May 2018.

(BGO) – Recently, the localities in Yen Dung district (Bac Giang province) have focused on propagandizing and checking to list the groups of the subject to organize the medical examination and make the dossier of health record for all residents.
Bac Giang to complete personal health record before 2020
(BGO) – The northern province of Bac Giang piloted making documents, examining and creating personal health records for all people residing at Yen The district in 2017.  Basing on the achieved results, the competent departments and sectors have carried out the task in other localities, striving for 100 percent of local habitants to complete the electronic personal health records before 2020.
