Businesses in Bac Giang IP plan to employ over 20,000 labours in second quarter

(BGO) – Many businesses in the industrial parks (IP) in Bac Giang province employed about 4,000 labours in the first quarter and planned to employ 20,000 people more in second quarter of 2023.

According to the provincial IP Management Board (IPMB), on the occasion of Lunar New Year, some electronic component manufacturers must cut down the employees due to sharp fall of order. As of March, more than 159,000 labours worked at local IP, down 13,400 people against the figure ahead Tet holiday.

However, many companies started employing labours again. In the first quarter, they employed about 4,000 new labours and expected to find more than 20,000 people in the second quarter, particularly 6,000 for Foxconn Precision Technology Group, 10,000 for Luxshare – ICT Group, 2,000 for Lens Vietnam Technology Company Limited among others.

The IPMB confirmed to enhance management over labour employment at business, regularly review and update the labour mobilization and change as well as support enterprises to recruit labour on demand.

Vietnam will continue to be affected by a labour shortage in the first and second quarters of 2023, but the deficit is not great and is mainly present in labour-intensive sectors such as garments, leather, and some export-led industries, especially in foreign-invested enterprises.
