Chairman of provincial People's Committee Duong Van Thai hosts ADB delegation
The sub-project was approved in September 2015 by the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee with a total investment of more than 40.5 million USD sourced from ADB loans and reciprocal capital.

It has been implemented from 2016-2020 with five bidding packages, including the building of Tran Quang Khai route; the construction of the Northeast Ring Road; the upgrading of the wastewater collection system; the improvement of rainwater systems; and the increase of the capacity of wastewater treatment stations.
The bidding packages have been actively implemented according to the plan, with some basically completed such as the Northeast Ring Road and the Van Son Pumping Station.
Accumulated capital of the project by the end of 2020 was about 617 billion VND, of which over 280 billion VND was disbursed. The locality has clearly defined the surplus from bidding savings and project reserve funds to invest in works to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the sub-project’s components. The surplus capital is estimated at more than 344 billion VND.
To ensure the objectives of the sub-project, based on the actual needs of the locality and the guidance of the Government and the donor, at the working session, a representative of the Bac Giang city People's Committee proposed a project to build A Lu Bridge and a road leading to the bridge from the west.
For the proposal of Bac Giang city, the working delegation asked the locality to clarify some contents related to the project of building A Lu Bridge and the road leading to the bridge from the west. At the same time, they urged the city to soon complete a report on the relocation plan of this project in accordance with the regulations and a number of related procedures so that the working delegation can report to the bank.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People's Committee Duong Van Thai affirmed that the ADB-funded Second Greater Mekong Subregion Corridor Towns Development Project – sub-project in Bac Giang province is of important significance in expanding the transport network, gradually perfecting the infrastructure of Bac Giang city, and creating a driving force for urban expansion and development.
He affirmed that, with the existing potential and advantages, Bac Giang commits to finishing the sub-project on time. He emphasised that the project of constructing A Lu Bridge and the road leading to the bridge has an important meaning in traffic connectivity between the two banks of Thuong River to create a new motivation for the development of Bac Giang city, while connecting with Viet Yen district to promote economic development, create environmental landscape, and especially solve environmental pollution at the current coal port.
The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Planning and Investment, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Bac Giang city People's Committee to join hands to early complete the investment procedure and report the resettlement plan of the project for using the surplus as prescribed by the ADB.
