Deputy PM inspects SEA Games 31 preparations in Bac Giang

(BGO) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is member of the Central Party Committee and head of the National Steering Committee for Organising the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), on May 3 inspected the preparation work for the upcoming regional sports games in the northern provinces of Bac Giang.

All preparations for badminton event at SEA Games 31 in the province have been done urgently and met the schedule. The local organization board will arrange sufficient facilities of warm-up room for athlete, utilities, stably power supply source, equipment, vehicles and forces to ensure public order and security, food safety and Covid-19 prevention and control prior to May 10.

Speaking at the meeting, Duong Van Thai, member of the central Party Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee affirmed that it is the first time Bac Giang has ever host big sport event of the region. The province has actively cooperated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnam Sports Administration to prepare relevant contents; taken lessons from recent badminton championship to thoroughly organize the upcoming SEA Games 31, hence helping build good image of Vietnam in the region and the world.

After inspecting at Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium and working with provincial leader, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam highly spoke of the preparation for badminton competition at SEA Games 31 in Bac Giang province. In the upcoming time, the Deputy PM ordered local organization board to highly focus on implementing assigned tasks, completing the final works to well serve the Games.

On the occasion, the Deputy PM and provincial leaders encouraged and presented gifts to National Badminton Team. They wished the athletes to consolidate and promote gained achievements, actively practice, ensure health condition to gain highest result and bring glory to Vietnamese sport.

The badminton competition will take place at Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium from May 16 - 22, 2022 with 135 athletes, 46 officials, coaches and assistants from eight participating countries of Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. 20 members of Vietnam badminton team join the badminton event.
