Each student selected will not only receive financial support but also benefit from soft skills training, career information exchanges, volunteer activities and site visits to Mong Duong 2 BOT Power Plant in Quang Ninh Province.

Implemented for the fourth year, AES Future Energy Scholarship is one of the company’s initiatives to invest in educating and training a high-tech workforce for Quang Ninh Province and Vietnam’s energy sector.

AES also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with CED and the three universities on the implementation of the AES Future Energy Scholarship program. The MoUs will be implemented over three years from 2020 to 2023, aiming to support talented students in energy-related fields who are facing financial difficulties.

David Stone, President of AES in Vietnam, and CEO of AES Mong Duong, said: "In the past 15 years of operating in Vietnam, AES has been providing safe, reliable and sustainable energy that helps fuel the country’s growth and development. We are focused on talent development and investing in people. Education is a top priority in our corporate social responsibility activities."

Pham Viet Phuong, Vice dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and coordinator of the scholarship programs for Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said: "Scholarships will encourage students to work harder at school and give them the chance to improve their soft skills, which are vital for personal development and future careers."

AES Future Energy Scholarship is part of AES Mong Duong’s CSR program that has been carried out since 2012. A total 130 CSR initiatives, valued at more than VND12 billion, focuses on four main pillars - health, education, livelihoods and infrastructure - and have made a long-lasting impact in improving the lives of more than 200,000 people in communities across Vietnam.
