The construction of the expanded Dong Son bridge and its paths started in November 2022 by the joint venture of HJC Investment - Construction Group Joint Stock Company and Thang Long Bridge 3 Joint Stock Company (Hanoi). The PMB acted as the investor.

The close segment of expanded Dong Son bridge is placed on January 9.

This is one of the province's key transportation projects with total investment cost of over 230 billion VND (over 9.85 million USD) from the state budget.

This project includes two items bridge and road. The starting point of the route is in Tan Tien commune while the ending point is in Dong Son commune (Bac Giang city).

As design, the expanded Dong Son bridge is built downstream of Thuong River next to the existing bridge with a length of nearly 357 m and a bridge deck of 16 m wide. The bridge has a main span structure made of prestressed reinforced concrete; reinforced concrete bridge deck. Its paths on both sides have a total length of 1 km, the asphalt concrete road surface is 21 m wide, the roadbed is 25 m wide with a 3 meter width median strip in the middle.

According to the PMB, the contractor is currently completing the remaining sub-items such as: Installing railings, bridge deck carpets... Expectedly, by the end of January 2024, the expanded Dong Son bridge will be inaugurated, handed over and put into use 5 months ahead of the schedule, helping ease the commuters, ensure traffic safety and promote socio-economic development in the area.
