According to owner of Tung Mo weighting point in Kep town of Hong Giang commune (Luc Ngan district), Thanh Ha lychee was sold at 85,000 VND (3.61 USD) per kg, highest price ever on June 11.

On June 12, thought the price was lower, this kind of lychee was sold at high price of 70 – 79,000 VND per kg while the main season lychee was consumed at 65-70,000 VND per kg.

The price of these two above mentioned lychees is nearly triple that of the same season in 2023. According to the trader, the fruit’s price is increased because of low productivity in Luc Ngan district, only about 50,000 tonnes or equal to 50 percent of last year crop.

There are currently 125 fixed lychee weighing points in the district, but on the morning of June 12, many purchasing points were temporarily closed because the price was too high and there was a lack of supply.

As of June 11, Bac Giang consumed more than 52,700 tonnes of lychee (most localities have basically completed to harvest early ripening lychee with total output of over 40,500 tonnes).

To increase the value of lychees, this year, localities, especially Luc Ngan, Tan Yen, Luc Nam, and Son Dong districts, have focused on directing and supporting production to create high-quality lychee products in order to meet domestic and export market standards.

At the same time, the districts have coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to organize trade promotion delegations and promote products at a number of wholesale markets, border gates and southern markets; commit to accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions to support people, businesses and traders to consume and process lychees.

Up to now, local lychees are smootly harvested and consumed. The whole province exported more than 21,100 tonnes of lychees while the rest was consumed in the domestic market. The lychee prices range from 55-85,000 VND per kg, the highest ever.

Bac Giang consumes more than 14,000 tonnes of early ripening lychees

BAC GIANG - Currently, localities in Bac Giang province have focused on harvesting early maturing lychees. As of May 30, the whole province harvested more than 14,000 tonnes of fresh lychees, including over 6,600 tonnes from Tan Yen district, 5,500 tonnes from Luc Ngan district and 850 tonnes from Luc Nam district among others.

AEON Group to export 30 tonnes of Hai Duong lychee to Japan

Aeon Global Merchandising Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese retailer AEON Group, plans to export about 30 tonnes of fresh lychees to Japan this year, up 120% from last year’s figure, according to the company’s representative.
