Politburo issues conclusion on ensuring national food security by 2030
Accordingly, the Politburo concluded that after 10 years of implementing the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 53-KL/TW, Vietnam has achieved great achievements in ensuring national food security, significantly contributing to socio-economic stability and development; as well as improving people’s living conditions, especially in rural areas.

Regarding the goals, tasks and solutions to ensure national food security by 2030, the Politburo requested Party committees and authorities at all levels to improve the efficiency of agricultural land use; to stabilise 3.5 million hectares of rice land and ensure an annual rice output of at least 35 million tonnes; to provide adequate, diverse and safe foods of increasingly high quality; to reduce the malnutrition rate among children under five to less than 19%; and to reduce the obesity rate among children under five in rural areas to less than 5% and in urban areas to less than 10%.
The conclusion also clearly indicated the main tasks and solutions including enhancing the leadership and direction of party committees and authorities in the work of ensuring national food security; continuing to restructure to develop production, processing and consumption of food and foodstuffs in the direction of concentrated, large-scale commodity production; improving the people's ability to access safe food; continuing to improve institutions, mechanisms and policies to ensure national food security; improving the quality of human resources and the level of research, application and transfer of science and technology; improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management on food security; effectively managing the use of natural resources, environmental and ecological protection, climate change adaptation, and natural disaster prevention and control; and promoting international cooperation in food security.
The Politburo also clarified the functions and duties of party committees, authorities, agencies, and mass organisations in this Conclusion.
