University admissions 2024 post positive results
The 2024 university admissions process in Vietnam has shown significant improvements compared to 2023, reflecting the enhanced training quality at higher education institutions, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
At the Conference on 2024 Admissions Review and Planning for 2025-2026, Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department, reported notable progress.

The percentage of institutions with over 80% enrolment reached 71.38%, up from 63.04% in 2023. The overall enrolment rate also increased to 80.68% from 78.24% last year, indicating successful recruitment efforts and improved institutional effectiveness.
In terms of fields of study, STEM programmes saw significant growth, with nearly 20,000 more students enrolling than in 2023.
This shift highlights growing societal trust in STEM education amid Vietnam’s push for technological innovation, digital transformation, and scientific advancements.
The 2024 admissions process featured diverse selection methods, though most universities continued to rely on high school graduation exam scores and academic records, which accounted for over 80% of admissions.
Looking ahead to 2025, new regulations will be implemented under Circular No. 06/2025. Early admissions will be eliminated, and full 12th-grade academic records will be required for evaluation.
Admission score conversion rules must be publicly disclosed, and there will be no restrictions on subject combinations for admission.
Language proficiency certificates will be recognised for foreign language score conversion, and the total additional points cannot exceed 10% of the maximum admission score.
The MOET will also maintain minimum entry requirements for education and healthcare programmes.
Nine Vietnamese universities have broken into the 2025 World University Rankings by subject by the Times Higher Education (THE) in eight subject areas, an increase of three schools compared to last year.
BAC GIANG - On December 16, a delegation from Osaka Metropolitan University (Japan) led by Principal Professor Norifumi Kawada visited and worked with Bac Giang province.
